ENTRY AND START SYSTEM (for Entry Function) Driver Side Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate

DESCRIPTION

When the driver door entry lock and unlock functions do not operate, one of the following may be malfunctioning: 1) power door lock control system; 2) front door outside handle assembly (for driver side); 3) door electrical key oscillator (for driver side); or 4) certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

The entry and start system (for entry function) uses a multiplex communication system (LIN communication system) and CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting Click here. Troubleshoot the entry and start system (for entry function) after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION

    1. When the door control switch on the master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to switch operation Click here.

      OK
      Door locks operate normally.

    NG
    OK
  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER (DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE)

    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / Data List.

    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the intelligent tester.

  3. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT

    1. A003UG7E01

Bring the electrical key transmitter near the front door outside handle assembly (for driver side), and perform a driver door entry lock and unlock operation check.

      Note

If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the door outside handle assembly, communication is not possible.

      Tech Tips

      • When the electrical key transmitter is brought near the front door outside handle assembly (for driver side), the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.

      • If the operation is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.

      OK
      Entry functions operate normally.

    NG
    OK
  4. PERFORM KEY DIAGNOSTIC MODE INSPECTION

    1. A003UG7E02

Diagnostic mode inspection (door electrical key oscillator (for driver side))

      1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the intelligent tester on.

      4. Enter the following menus: Body / Entry & Start / Key Communication Check / Overhead + Driver Side.

      5. When the electrical key transmitter is in the position shown in the illustration, check that the wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

        Tech Tips

If the buzzer sounds, it can be determined that the door electrical key oscillator (for driver side) is operating normally.

        OK
        Wireless door lock buzzer sounds.

    NG
    OK
  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - DOOR ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR)

    1. Disconnect the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the door electrical key oscillator (for driver side) connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
