NAVIGATION SYSTEM Steering Pad Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

This circuit sends an operation signal from the steering pad switch assembly to the navigation receiver assembly.

If there is an open in the circuit, the navigation system cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly.

If there is a short in the circuit, the resulting condition is the same as when a switch is continuously depressed. Therefore, the navigation receiver assembly cannot be operated using the steering pad switch assembly, and the navigation receiver assembly itself cannot function.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

The vehicle is equipped with an SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) such as the airbags. Before servicing (including removal or installation of parts), be sure to read the precautionary notice for the Supplemental Restraint System Click here.

      (to Navigation Receiver Assembly)

Disconnect the E26 navigation receiver assembly connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      E26-7 (SW1) - E26-6 (SWG) No switch is pushed 95 to 105 kΩ
      E26-7 (SW1) - E26-6 (SWG) Seek+ switch: pushed Below 2.5 Ω
      E26-7 (SW1) - E26-6 (SWG) Seek- switch: pushed 313 to 345 Ω
      E26-7 (SW1) - E26-6 (SWG) Volume+ switch: pushed 950 to 1050 Ω
      E26-7 (SW1) - E26-6 (SWG) Volume- switch: pushed 2955 to 3265 Ω
      E26-8 (SW2) - E26-6 (SWG) No switch is pushed 95 to 105 kΩ
      E26-8 (SW2) - E26-6 (SWG) MODE switch: pushed Below 2.5 Ω
      E26-8 (SW2) - E26-6 (SWG) Voice switch: pushed 2955 to 3265 Ω
      E26-8 (SW2) - E26-6 (SWG) On Hook switch: pushed 313 to 345 Ω
      E26-8 (SW2) - E26-6 (SWG) Off Hook switch: pushed 950 to 1050 Ω

Disconnect the z2 steering pad switch assembly and E6 spiral cable sub-assembly connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z2-8 (EAU) - E6-4 (EAU) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z2-10 (AU1) - E6-6 (AU1) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right
      z2-9 (AU2) - E6-5 (AU2) Center Below 1 Ω
      2.5 rotations to the left
      2.5 rotations to the right

      Note

The spiral cable sub-assembly is an important part of the SRS airbag system. Incorrect removal or installation of the spiral cable sub-assembly may prevent the airbag from deploying. Be sure to read the page shown in the brackets.
