FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION:

Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the seat frame and adjuster may injure your hands.
If the front seat side airbag assembly was deployed, replace the front seat side airbag assembly, separate type front seatback spring assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with the necessary parts in accordance with the extent of the collision damage.

Tech Tips

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

Note

After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.
REMOVE REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD
1. Disengage the 2 guides <A> as shown in the illustration.
2. Disengage the 3 guides <B> and remove the rear No. 2 floor board.
REMOVE REAR DECK FLOOR BOX
1. Remove the rear deck floor box.
REMOVE REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD
1. Disengage the 2 guides and remove the rear No. 3 floor board.
DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL (for Manual Seat)

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT HEADREST ASSEMBLY
REMOVE OUTER SEAT TRACK COVER (for Manual Seat)
1. Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the foremost position.
2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the outer seat track cover.
REMOVE OUTER SEAT TRACK COVER (for Power Seat)
1. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the foremost position.
2. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the outer seat track cover.
REMOVE INNER SEAT TRACK COVER (for Manual Seat)
1. Disengage the claw.
2. Separate the guide and remove the inner seat track cover.
REMOVE INNER SEAT TRACK COVER (for Power Seat)
1. Disengage the guide and claw and remove the inner seat track cover.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat)
1. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.
2. Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the rearmost position.
3. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.
4. Lift up the seat track adjusting handle and move the seat to the center position. Also, operate the reclining adjuster release handle and move the seatback to the upright position.
5. Disconnect the connectors under the seat.
6. Remove the seat.
  
  Note
  
  Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat)
1. Remove the 2 bolts on the rear side of the seat.
2. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the rearmost position.
3. Remove the 2 bolts on the front side of the seat.
4. Operate the power seat switch knob and move the seat to the center position. Also, operate the power seat switch knob and move the seatback to the upright position.
5. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.
  
  CAUTION:
  
  Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative auxiliary (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
  
  Note
  
  When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.
6. Disconnect the connectors under the seat.
7. Remove the front seat assembly.
  
  Note
  
  Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY WIRE HARNESS
1. Disconnect the rubber band.
2. for LH Side:
  1. Disengage the claw and 3 clamps to separate the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness.
  2. Disconnect the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness from the seat clamp.
3. for RH Side:
  1. Disengage the claw and 3 clamps to separate the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness.
  2. Disconnect the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness from the seat clamp.
4. w/ Seat Heater System:
  1. Disconnect the seat heater wire harness connector and disengage the clamp.
5. Disengage the fastener and separate the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness.
6. for Manual Seat:
  1. Remove the 3 hog rings.
REMOVE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Manual Seat)
1. Remove the 3 hog rings.
2. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 front seat headrest supports.
3. Turn back the separate type front seatback cover to remove the nut, and separate the bracket of the separate type front seatback cover RH.
4. Remove the separate type front seatback cover with pad from the front seat frame assembly with adjuster.
REMOVE SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Power Seat)
1. remove the 2 hog rings.
2. Remove the 3 hog rings.
3. Pull out the lower part of 2 fasteners from the separate type front seatback cover as shown in the illustration.
4. Open the 2 fasteners.

  *1 Fastening Rubber
  
  Remove the 3 hog rings and disconnect the 2 fastening rubbers.
6. Disengage the 2 hooks.
7. Turn back the separate type front seatback cover to remove the nut, and separate the bracket of the separate type front seatback cover.
8. Disengage the 4 claws and remove the 2 front seat headrest supports.
9. Remove the separate type front seatback cover with pad from the separate type front seatback spring assembly.
REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY
1. Disengage the 2 clamps.
2. Remove the 2 nuts and the front seat side airbag assembly.
  CAUTION:
  - The nuts must not be reused.
  - Make sure that the separate type front seatback spring assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
