STEERING ANGLE SENSOR REMOVAL

Note


  • Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.

  • While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or any door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore, when servicing the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal or open/close the doors while the battery is connected.

  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

  3. REMOVE STEERING PAD

  4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY

      Remove the steering wheel assembly set nut.

    2. Put matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft.

    3. Disconnect the connectors from the spiral cable.

      Using SST, remove the steering wheel assembly.

      09950-50013   ( 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09955-04071 )

      Note

      Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST (09953-05020) before use.

  5. REMOVE LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    Note

    Removing the lower steering column cover in the incorrect order will cause the parts to break.

      Push the right and left sides of the lower steering column cover to disengage the 4 claws.

    2. A01J8HQ

      Insert fingers into the opening of the tilt lever of the lower steering column cover to disengage the 2 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Spread the claws to disengage them.

    3. Using a screwdriver, insert the tip into each service hole to disengage the 2 claws to remove the lower steering column cover as shown in the illustration.

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  6. REMOVE UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. A01JCRP

      Disengage the 2 claws and 2 pins to remove the upper steering column cover.

  7. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR


    1. Remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor Click here.

      Note


      • Do not replace the spiral cable with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

      • Do not rotate the spiral cable with the battery connected and the power switch on (IG).

      • Ensure that the steering wheel is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering angle sensor.

      • Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the spiral cable.
