REAR SHOCK ABSORBER INSTALLATION

Tech Tips

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SPRING BUMPER
1. Install the rear No. 1 spring bumper to the rear shock absorber assembly.
TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
1. Insert the upper end of the rear shock absorber assembly with the rear No. 1 spring bumper to the vehicle body.
2. Temporarily tighten the rear shock absorber assembly to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt and nut.
  
  Note
  
  Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.
  
  Tech Tips
  
  Insert the bolt with the threaded end facing the outside of the vehicle.
INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION SUPPORT

  Install the rear suspension support.
  
  Note
  
  Make sure that the rear suspension support is correctly installed as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SHOCK ABSORBER CUSHION WASHER
1. Text in Illustration

  *2 Lower Side
  
  Apply a few drops of adhesive to the threads of a new nut.
  
  Adhesive
  
  Toyota genuine adhesive 1324, three bond 1324 or equivalent
2. Install the rear No. 1 shock absorber cushion washer.
  
  Note
  
  Be sure to install the rear No. 1 shock absorber cushion washer in the correct direction.
3. Using a union nut wrench, fully tighten the lock nut while holding the rod of the rear shock absorber assembly with a hexagon socket wrench.
  
  Torque:
  
  25 N*m { 255 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }
  Note
  
  Securely insert the hexagon socket wrench to the rear shock absorber rod to prevent damage to the rear shock absorber assembly when tightening the nut.

INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Height Control Sensor)
1. Install the rear height control sensor sub-assembly RH to the rear axle beam assembly with the bolt.
  
  Torque:
  
  8.0 N*m { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }
INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side)
1. Connect the connector.
2. Engage the 7 claws and 2 clips.
3. Install the deck trim side panel assembly LH with the screw.
INSTALL TONNEAU COVER HOLDER CAP (for LH Side)
1. Engage the claw to install the tonneau cover holder cap.
INSTALL LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY (for LH Side)
1. Engage the 2 guides.
2. Install the 2 luggage hold belt striker assemblies with the 2 bolts.
INSTALL REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH (for LH Side)
1. Engage the 2 guides as shown in the illustration.
2. Install the rear side seatback assembly LH with the bolt.
  
  Torque:
  
  18 N*m { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }
INSTALL DECK TRIM SIDE PANEL ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side)
1. Engage the 7 claws and 2 clips.
2. Install the deck trim side panel assembly RH with the screw.
INSTALL TONNEAU COVER HOLDER CAP (for RH Side)

INSTALL LUGGAGE HOLD BELT STRIKER ASSEMBLY (for RH Side)

INSTALL REAR SIDE SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH (for RH Side)
1. Engage the 2 guides as shown in the illustration.
2. Install the rear side seatback assembly RH with the bolt.
  
  Torque:
  
  18 N*m { 184 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf }

INSTALL REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY

Engage the 2 guides of the seat cushion to the seatback.

Engage the 2 front hooks of the seat cushion to the vehicle body.

Note

When installing the seat cushion, make sure that the seat belt buckle is not under the seat cushion.

Tech Tips

Confirm that the seat cushion is firmly installed.

INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH (for LH Side)
1. Engage the 7 claws to install the rear door scuff plate LH.
INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH (for RH Side)

Tech Tips

Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
INSTALL REAR DECK TRIM COVER
1. Engage the 4 claws and 4 guides to install the rear deck trim cover.
INSTALL DECK TRIM SERVICE HOLE COVER
1. Engage the 3 guides.
2. Engage the 2 claws to install the deck trim service hole cover.
INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD
1. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips.
2. Install the rear No. 1 floor board with the bolt.
INSTALL REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Engage the claw and 2 clips to install the rear No. 2 floor board sub-assembly.
INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR BOARD SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Engage the 2 claws and 2 clips to install the rear No. 1 floor board sub-assembly.
INSTALL DECK FLOOR BOX LH (for LH Side)
1. Engage the 2 guides.
2. Install the deck floor box LH with the clip.
INSTALL REAR NO. 4 FLOOR BOARD (for LH Side)
1. Engage the guide to install the rear No. 4 floor board.
INSTALL REAR NO. 3 FLOOR BOARD (for RH Side)
1. Engage the 2 guides to install the rear No. 3 floor board.
INSTALL REAR DECK FLOOR BOX
1. Install the rear deck floor box.
INSTALL REAR NO. 2 FLOOR BOARD
1. Engage the 3 guides <A>.
2. Engage the 2 guides <B> and install the rear No. 2 floor board as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL TONNEAU COVER ASSEMBLY (w/ Tonneau Cover)
1. Install the tonneau cover assembly.
INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque:

103 N*m { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
STABILIZE SUSPENSION
1. Lower the vehicle.
2. Bounce the vehicle up and down several times to stabilize the suspension.
FULLY TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY
1. Fully tighten the bolt.
  
  Torque:
  
  90 N*m { 918 kgf*cm, 66 ft.*lbf }
  Note
  
  Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.
  
  The final torque must be applied under the standard vehicle height conditions.
PERFORM INITIALIZATION (w/ Height Control Sensor)
