      Disconnect the connectors shown in the illustration from the radio receiver assembly and speakers.

    2. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L34-2 (FL+) - I3-2 (TWL+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L34-6 (FL-) - I3-4 (TWL-) Always Below 1 Ω
      L34-1 (FR+) - I2-2 (TWR+) Always Below 1 Ω
      L34-5 (FR-) - I2-4 (TWR-) Always Below 1 Ω
    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and front No. 2 speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I3-1 (+) - O1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I3-3 (-) - O1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      I2-1 (+) - N1-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      I2-3 (-) - N1-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      L35-2 (RL+) - Q3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      L35-6 (RL-) - Q3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
      L35-1 (RR+) - P3-1 Always Below 1 Ω
      L35-3 (RR-) - P3-2 Always Below 1 Ω
    5. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

      Standard Resistance

      L34-2 (FL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L34-6 (FL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L34-1 (FR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L34-5 (FR-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L35-2 (RL+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L35-6 (RL-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      L35-1 (RR+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    6. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when a known good speaker is installed Click here.

      Tech Tips


      • Connect all the connectors to the front No. 2 speakers that were disconnected.

      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left front speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.

      • Perform the above inspection on both LH and RH sides.

    3. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 1 speakers and the stereo component amplifier assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    4. Measure the resistance between each of the front No. 2 speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    5. Measure the resistance between each of the rear speakers and the radio receiver assembly to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    6. Measure the resistance between each of the rear No. 2 speakers and rear speakers to check for an open circuit in the wire harness.

    7. Measure the resistance between the radio receiver assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.

    8. Measure the resistance between the stereo component amplifier assembly and body ground to check for a short circuit in the wire harness.
