POWER STEERING SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:C1516, C1526

DTC Code DTC Name
C1516 Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete
C1526 Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete

DESCRIPTION

These DTCs do not indicate a malfunction. The power steering ECU assembly outputs these DTCs when it determines that the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration are incomplete.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1516 Torque sensor zero point calibration is incomplete due to the steering wheel being touched during calibration. There is no malfunction if this DTC is not output again after clearing the DTCs and torque sensor calibration, and performing zero point calibration.
C1526 Rotation angle sensor initialization is incomplete due to the steering wheel being touched during calibration. There is no malfunction if this DTC is not output again after clearing the DTCs and torque sensor calibration, and performing rotation angle sensor initialization.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

  • If the power steering ECU assembly has been replaced with a new one, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration Click here.

  • If the electric power steering column sub-assembly or power steering motor assembly has been replaced, perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration Click here.

PROCEDURE

  1. CLEAR DTC

    1. Clear the DTCs Click here.

    NEXT
  2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT

    1. Initialize rotation angle sensor and calibrate torque sensor zero point Click here.

    NEXT
  3. CHECK FOR DTC

    1. Check for DTCs Click here.

      Condition Proceed to
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1. A
DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice*2. B
Normal system code is output. C

      Tech Tips

      • *1: The power steering ECU assembly must be replaced if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration is performed 3 times.

      • *2: Perform rotation angle sensor initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor initialization and calibration is performed once or twice.
