REAR BUMPER (for Sedan) REASSEMBLY

  1. INSTALL REAR BUMPER GUARD


    1. Attach the 21 claws to install the rear bumper guard.

    2. Install the 2 screws.

  2. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD LH

    Tech Tips

    When installing the rear bumper pad, heat the rear bumper cover using a heat light.

    Standard
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper cover excessively.


    1. When using a new rear bumper cover:


      1. Clean the surface of a new rear bumper cover.

      2. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

    2. When reusing the rear bumper cover:


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper cover surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

    3. A00OL81

      Install a new rear bumper pad.


      1. Remove the peeling paper from the face of a new rear bumper pad.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      2. Install the rear bumper pad as shown in the illustration.

  3. INSTALL REAR BUMPER PAD RH

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  4. INSTALL REAR FOG LIGHT ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Rear Fog Light)


    1. w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Connect the connector.

      2. Attach the guide.

      3. Attach the 2 guides to install the rear fog light assembly LH.

      4. Install the 2 screws.

    2. w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Connect the connector.

      2. Attach the guide.

      3. Attach the 2 guides to install the rear fog light assembly LH.

      4. Install the 2 screws.

      5. Attach the 2 clamps.

  5. INSTALL REAR FOG LIGHT ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Rear Fog Light)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  6. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY LH (w/o Rear Fog Light)


    1. Attach the guide to install the reflex reflector.

    2. Install the 2 screws.

  7. INSTALL REFLEX REFLECTOR ASSEMBLY RH (w/o Rear Fog Light)

    Tech Tips

    Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

  8. INSTALL REAR BUMPER CUSHION

    Tech Tips

    When installing the rear bumper cushion, heat the rear bumper upper cover using a heat light.

    Standard
    Item Temperature
    Rear Bumper Upper Cover 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)

    Note

    Do not heat the rear bumper upper cover excessively.


    1. When using a new rear bumper upper cover:


      1. Clean the surface of a new rear bumper upper cover.

      2. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper upper cover surface.

    2. When reusing the rear bumper upper cover:


      1. Using a heat light, heat the rear bumper upper cover surface.

      2. Remove the double-sided tape from the rear bumper upper cover.

      3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

      Install a new rear bumper cushion.


      1. Remove the peeling paper from the face of a new rear bumper cushion.

        Tech Tips

        After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

      2. Install the rear bumper cushion as shown in the illustration.

  9. INSTALL REAR BUMPER UPPER COVER RH


    1. Install the rear bumper upper cover with the 2 screws.

  10. INSTALL NO. 3 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. for Wagon:


      1. A00OIFF

        Attach the claw to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

    2. for Sedan:


      1. A00OM8R

        Attach the claw to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 3 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

  11. INSTALL NO. 2 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. for Wagon:

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both No. 2 ultrasonic sensor retainers.


      1. A00OLQP

        Attach the 2 claws to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

    2. for Sedan:

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for both No. 2 ultrasonic sensor retainers.

        Attach the claw to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 2 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

  12. INSTALL NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR RETAINER (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. A00OIFF

      for Wagon:

      Attach the claw to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

    2. A00OI6E

      for Sedan:

      Attach the claw to the rear bumper cover to install the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor retainer.

  13. INSTALL ULTRASONIC SENSOR CLIP (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. A00OL2B

      for Wagon:

      Attach the ultrasonic sensor clip to the ultrasonic sensor retainer from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the clip to install the clip.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other ultrasonic sensor clip.

    2. A00OJEE

      for Sedan:

      Attach the ultrasonic sensor clip to the ultrasonic sensor retainer from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the clip to install the clip.

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for the other ultrasonic sensor clip.

  14. INSTALL ULTRASONIC SENSOR CLIP (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. A00OL2B

      for Wagon:

      Attach the ultrasonic sensor clip to the ultrasonic sensor retainer from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the clip to install the clip.

    2. for Sedan:

      Attach the ultrasonic sensor clip to the ultrasonic sensor retainer from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the clip to install the clip.

  15. INSTALL NO. 1 ULTRASONIC SENSOR (w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System)


    1. for Wagon:

      Tech Tips

      Use the same procedure for all No. 1 ultrasonic sensors.

        Attach the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor to the ultrasonic sensor clip from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the sensor to install the sensor.

      2. A00OMQU

        Connect the connector.

        Attach the 2 clamps.

    2. for Sedan:


      1. A00OIGP

        for RH Side:

        Attach the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor to the ultrasonic sensor clip from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the sensor to install the sensor.

      2. A00OKRI

        except RH Side:

        Tech Tips

        Use the same procedure for all No. 1 ultrasonic sensors.

        Attach the No. 1 ultrasonic sensor to the ultrasonic sensor clip from the backside of the bumper. Then attach the 2 claws of the sensor to install the sensor.

        Attach the 3 clamps.

  16. INSTALL NO. 2 FRAME WIRE (w/ Rear Fog Light)


    1. for LHD, w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Attach the 3 clamps to install the No. 2 frame wire.

      2. Connect the 4 ultrasonic sensor connectors and rear fog light connector.

    2. for LHD, w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Attach the 5 clamps to install the No. 2 frame wire.

      2. Connect the rear fog light connector.

    3. for RHD, w/ TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Attach the 4 clamps to install the No. 2 frame wire.

      2. Connect the 4 ultrasonic sensor connectors and rear fog light connector.

    4. for RHD, w/o TOYOTA Parking Assist-sensor System:


      1. Attach the 4 clamps to install the No. 2 frame wire.

      2. Connect the rear fog light connector.
