WINDSHIELD GLASS INSTALLATION


  1. CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS


    1. Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the glass.

    2. Clean the outer circumference of the glass with non-residue solvent.

      Note


      • Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.

      • Be careful not to damage the glass.

      • Even if using new glass, clean the glass with non-residue solvent.

  2. INSTALL NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER

    1. Install 2 new stoppers to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the stoppers will be installed.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

  4. INSTALL WINDSHIELD OUTSIDE MOULDING


    1. Using a brush or sponge, coat the contact surface of the glass and moulding with Primer G as shown in the illustration.

      Note


      • Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Do not coat the adhesive with Primer G.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from a new windshield outside moulding. Install the moulding as shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL WINDOW GLASS ADHESIVE DAM


    1. Apply Primer G to the glass where the glass adhesive dam will be installed.

      Note


      • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.

      • Throw away any leftover primer.

      • Do not apply too much primer.

    2. Remove the peeling paper from the adhesive part of a new dam. Install the dam (adhesive side) to the glass (Primer G area), but exclude the area beyond the notches on the lower part of the glass.

  6. INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS

    1. Position the glass.


      1. Using suction cups, place the glass in the correct position.

      2. Check that the entire contact surface of the glass rim is perfectly even.

      3. Place matchmarks on the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

        Tech Tips


        • Placing matchmarks is only necessary when installing a new glass. When reinstalling the used glass, matchmarks should already be present.

        • When reusing the glass, check and correct the matchmark positions.

        Note

        Check that the stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

      4. Using suction cups, remove the glass.

      Tech Tips

      If the primer is applied to an area that is not specified, apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off the excess primer before it dries.

    5. Apply adhesive to the glass.

      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of a cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

        Tech Tips

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load a sealer gun with the cartridge.

      3. Apply adhesive to the glass as shown in the illustration.

      Install the glass to the vehicle body.


      1. Using suction cups, position the glass so that the matchmarks are aligned. Press it in gently along the rim.

      2. Lightly press the outer surface of the glass to ensure that it is securely fit to the vehicle body.

        Note


        • Check that the stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        • Check that the vehicle body and glass have a small gap between them.

      3. Hold the glass in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.

        Note

        Do not drive the vehicle for the amount of time written in the table below.

    7. w/ Windshield Deicer System:

      Connect the windshield deicer connector.

  7. CHECK FOR LEAK AND REPAIR


    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.

    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.

  8. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY


    1. for Sedan:

      Return the roof headlining to its original position. Refer to the following procedures Click here.

    2. for Wagon:

      Return the roof headlining to its original position. Refer to the following procedures Click here.

  9. INSTALL ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY

    1. Assemble the assist grip as shown in the illustration.

  10. INSTALL VISOR HOLDER

    1. Attach the 2 claws.

    2. Push in the visor holder as shown in the illustration.

  13. INSTALL RAIN SENSOR (w/ Rain Sensor)


    1. Clean the surface of the windshield glass that contacts the rain sensor.

    2. When replacing the rain sensor with a new one:

      Remove the protective cover on the rain sensor.

      Note

      Do not touch the silicon mixture directly with a finger.

      Note

      Make sure that there are no air bubbles between the silicon mixture and windshield glass.

  14. INSTALL NO. 2 RAIN SENSOR COVER (w/ Rain Sensor)

      Using a screwdriver, attach the 2 claws to install the No. 2 rain sensor cover.

  15. INSTALL NO. 1 RAIN SENSOR COVER (w/ Rain Sensor)

      Attach the 3 claws to install the No. 1 rain sensor cover.

  16. INSTALL INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/ EC Mirror)

    1. Using a T20 "TORX" socket wrench, install the inner rear view mirror with the screw.

      Torque:
      1.5 N*m  { 15 kgf*cm, 13 in.*lbf }
    2. Connect the connector.

  17. INSTALL INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR STAY HOLDER COVER (w/ EC Mirror)

      1. Attach the 2 claws of the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover to the mirror, and then slide the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to attach the 2 claws to the roof headlining and install the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.

      1. Attach the 2 claws and install the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.

  18. INSTALL INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/o EC Mirror)

    5. Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and the wipers do not come into contact with the vehicle body.
