Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
The following procedure is for the LH side.
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
ENTER PARKING BRAKE FULL RELEASE MODE (ACTIVE TEST)
Turn the ignition switch off.
Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Turn the intelligent tester on.
Enter the following menus: Chassis / Electric Parking Brake / Active Test / Full Release Mode Activation.
Note
If the parking brake cannot be released, use the luggage compartment's parking brake release tool to manually release the parking brake.
Observe the following notices to release the parking brake with the emergency release cable.
Prevent the vehicle from moving with wheel chocks or equivalent.
Make sure the PARK warning light is off.
Make sure the shift lever is in P (for Automatic Transaxle), or 1st or R (for Manual Transaxle).
Make sure the ignition switch is off.
Perform all work on a level surface.
If using the parking brake release tool, be sure to turn the tool until it stops.
DRAIN BRAKE FLUID
Note
Wash off brake fluid immediately if it comes in contact with any painted surface.
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER PROTECTOR
DISCONNECT NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY
Remove the bolt and detach the clamp from the trailing arm.
Remove the clip and pin from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly. Then disconnect the end of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

Detach the claws of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly. Then disconnect the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
DISCONNECT REAR BRAKE FLEXIBLE HOSE
Remove the union bolt and gasket, and disconnect the rear brake flexible hose from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
Hold the rear disc brake slide pin and remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder assembly.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD
Remove the 2 disc brake pads from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE
Remove the rear disc brake pad support plates from the disc brake cylinder mounting.
Note
Each rear disc brake pad support plate has a different shape. Be sure to put an identification mark on each rear disc brake pad support plate so that it can be installed to its original position.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN
Remove the 2 rear disc brake cylinder slide pins from the disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE BUSH
Using a screwdriver, remove the rear disc brake cylinder slide bush from the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Note
Do not damage the rear disc brake cylinder slide pin.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT
Remove the 2 rear disc brake bush dust boots from the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING
Remove the 2 bolts and rear disc brake cylinder mounting from the axle carrier.
REMOVE REAR DISC

Place matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.
Remove the rear disc.
