VACUUM PUMP INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY


    1. Apply engine oil to 2 new O-rings.

      Install the 2 O-rings to the vacuum pump.

      Apply engine oil to the cylinder hollow.

      Install the vacuum pump so that the coupling teeth of the vacuum pump (labeled A) and the grooves of the camshaft (labeled B) are aligned.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the O-ring.

    5. A00DRDV

      Install the vacuum pump with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Confirm that the vacuum pump is not at an angle, and that there is no clearance between the fitting surfaces.

  2. CONNECT UNION TO CONNECTOR TUBE HOSE

      Connect the hose with the clip.

      Note

      Make sure that the clip and paint mark are facing upward when connecting the hose.

  3. INSPECT VACUUM PUMP OPERATION


    1. Slide the clip and disconnect the union to connector tube hose from the vacuum pump.

    2. A005S7T

      Connect the hose of a vacuum gauge to the vacuum pump.

    3. Start the engine and warm it up for more than 2 minutes.

    4. With the engine idling, measure the negative pressure of the vacuum pump.

      Standard pressure
      Higher than 87 kPa (650 mmHg, 25.6 in.Hg)

      Tech Tips

      It is necessary to replace the vacuum pump assembly every 200000 km (124000 miles).

    5. Remove the vacuum gauge from the vacuum pump.

    6. Connect the union to connector tube hose to the vacuum pump with the clip.

  4. INSTALL ENGINE WIRE (for 1ZR-FAE)


    1. Attach the 10 clamps, and then connect the connectors.

    2. Connect the engine wire with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      for bolt A
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }
      for bolt B
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }
      for nut
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }

  5. INSTALL ENGINE WIRE (for 2ZR-FAE)


    1. Attach the 10 clamps, and then connect the connectors.

    2. Connect the engine wire with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      for bolt A
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }
      for bolt B
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }
      for nut
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }

  6. INSTALL ENGINE WIRE (for 3ZR-FAE)


    1. Attach the 10 clamps, and then connect the connectors.

    2. Connect the engine wire with the 3 bolts and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      for bolt A
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }
      for bolt B
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }
      for nut
      8.4 N*m  { 86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf }

  7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 1ZR-FAE)


    1. A00DQ1D

      Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }

    2. Attach the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner case.

  8. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FAE)


    1. A00DQ1D

      Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }

    2. Attach the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner case.

  9. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 3ZR-FAE)

      Install the air cleaner case with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      7.0 N*m  { 71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf }

    2. Attach the wire harness clamp to the air cleaner case.

  10. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 1ZR-FAE)


    1. A005SIR

      Connect the air cleaner cap with the band.

    2. Connect the ventilation hose.

    3. A005UHW

      Connect the 2 clamps.

    4. A005SHE

      Attach the wire harness to the 2 clamps.

    5. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

  11. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2ZR-FAE)


    1. A005SIR

      Connect the air cleaner cap with the band.

    2. Connect the ventilation hose.

    3. A005UHW

      Connect the 2 clamps.

    4. A005SHE

      Attach the wire harness to the 2 clamps.

    5. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

  12. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 3ZR-FAE)


    1. A005SIR

      Connect the air cleaner cap with the band.

    2. Connect the ventilation hose.

    3. A005UHW

      Connect the 2 clamps.

    4. A005SHE

      Attach the wire harness to the 2 clamps.

    5. Connect the mass air flow meter connector.

  13. INSTALL NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 1ZR-FAE)


    1. A005W8Q

      Attach the 4 clips to install the cover.

      Note


      • Be sure to attach the clips securely.

      • Do not apply excessive force or hit the cover to attach the clips. This may cause the cover to break.

  14. INSTALL NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 2ZR-FAE)

      Attach the 4 clips to install the cover.

      Note


      • Be sure to attach the clips securely.

      • Do not apply excessive force or hit the cover to attach the clips. This may cause the cover to break.

  15. INSTALL NO. 2 CYLINDER HEAD COVER (for 3ZR-FAE)

      Attach the 4 clips to install the cover.

      Note


      • Be sure to attach the clips securely.

      • Do not apply excessive force or hit the cover to attach the clips. This may cause the cover to break.
