DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT


  1. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER

    A005RE1

    1. Using a clip remover, remove the clip and engine room side cover.

  2. REMOVE FRONT LOWER BUMPER ABSORBER

    1. Remove the 2 screws and 4 bolts.

    2. A00DTLK

      Remove the 3 screws, 8 bolts and front lower bumper absorber.

  3. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 1AZ-FE)


    1. A005VAK

      Remove the 5 clips and under cover.

  4. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 3ZR-FE)


    1. A00ON3U

      Remove the 10 clips and under cover.

  5. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID


    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

      Torque:
      49 N*m  { 500 kgf*cm, 36 ft.*lbf }

  6. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH AND RH


    1. Remove the front drive shaft LH and RH Click here.

  7. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET


    1. Remove the 3 bolts and bracket.

  8. REMOVE TRANSAXLE HOUSING OIL SEAL LH AND RH

    1. Using SST, tap out the oil seal LH.

      Using SST, tap out the oil seal RH.

  9. INSTALL TRANSAXLE HOUSING OIL SEAL LH AND RH

    1. Coat the lip of a new oil seal LH with MP grease.

    2. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal LH.

      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

    3. A00OLAEE01

      Coat the lip of a new oil seal RH with MP grease.

    4. Using SST and a hammer, tap in the oil seal RH.

      Standard depth
      -0.5 to 0.5 mm (-0.0197 to 0.0197 in.)

      Note

      Do not damage the oil seal lip.

  10. INSTALL DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET


    1. Install the drive shaft bearing bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      64 N*m  { 650 kgf*cm, 47 ft.*lbf }

  11. INSTALL FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH AND RH


    1. Install the front drive shaft LH and RH Click here.

  12. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

    Fluid type
    Toyota Genuine ATF WS

  13. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL


    1. Inspect the automatic transaxle fluid level Click here.

  14. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 1AZ-FE)


    1. A005VAK

      Install the under cover with the 5 clips.

  15. INSTALL NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 3ZR-FE)


    1. A00ON3U

      Install the under cover with the 10 clips.

  16. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BUMPER ABSORBER

    A00DTLK

    1. Install the front lower bumper absorber with the 8 bolts and 3 screws.

    2. A00DUZW

      Install the 2 screws and 4 bolts.

  17. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER

    A005RE1

    1. Install the engine room side cover with the clip.
