RADIATOR REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE RADIATOR SUPPORT OPENING COVER

      Remove the 7 clips and radiator support opening cover.

  2. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  4. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER ABSORBER LOWER

      Remove the 4 screws and 2 bolts.

    2. A010FYT

      Remove the 3 screws, 8 bolts and front lower bumper absorber.

  5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER


    1. A010GKL

      Remove the 10 clips and under cover.

  6. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for Rough Road Area Specification Vehicles)

  7. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM REFRIGERATION SYSTEM (w/ Air Conditioning System)


    1. Start the engine.

    2. Turn the A/C switch on.

    3. Operate the cooler compressor while the engine speed is approximately 1000 rpm for 5 to 6 minutes to circulate the refrigerant and collect the compressor oil remaining in each component into the cooler compressor.

    4. Stop the engine.

    5. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system using a refrigerant recovery unit.

  8. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT


    1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

      Tech Tips

      Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.

    2. Remove the reserve tank cap.

      CAUTION:

      Do not remove the reserve tank cap while the engine and radiator are still hot.

      Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER HOSE CLAMP BRACKET

      Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the hose clamp bracket.

  10. REMOVE BATTERY CLAMP SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.

    2. Remove the bolt and loosen the nut.

    3. Remove the battery clamp.

  11. REMOVE BATTERY

  12. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY

  13. REMOVE HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and hood lock.

    2. Disconnect the hood lock control cable.

    3. w/ Engine Hood Courtesy Switch:

      Disconnect the connector.

  14. REMOVE UPPER RADIATOR SUPPORT

    1. Disconnect the 2 horn connectors.

    2. Detach the 2 clamps and disconnect the No. 2 water by-pass hose.

    3. Remove the 5 bolts and upper radiator support.

  15. REMOVE FAN SHROUD CUSHION

      Remove the 2 cushions.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 FAN SHROUD


    1. A00OK85

      for Manual Transaxle:

      Detach the No. 3 water by-pass hose clamp.

    2. A00ONDE

      for CVT:

      Detach the 2 No. 3 water by-pass hose clamps.

    3. A00ONCZ

      Remove the 2 bolts, detach the 2 claws and remove the fan shroud.

  17. DISCONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Conditioning System)


    1. A00ON7N

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose sub-assembly from the condenser.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose sub-assembly.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  18. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Air Conditioning System)

      Remove the bolt and disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly from the condenser.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.

      Note

      Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.

  19. REMOVE CONDENSER ASSEMBLY WITH RECEIVER (w/ Air Conditioning System)

    1. Remove the condenser assembly with receiver as shown in the illustration.

  20. REMOVE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)

    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Using a screwdriver, detach the clamp and remove the sensor.

      Tech Tips

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

      Detach the claw and remove the cooler bracket.

  21. DISCONNECT NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS HOSE


    1. A00OHZN

      Disconnect the No. 1 water by-pass hose from the radiator.

  22. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE


    1. A00OJ1D

      Disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the No. 2 water by-pass hose.

  23. DISCONNECT NO. 3 RADIATOR HOSE


    1. A00OM4L

      Disconnect the No. 3 radiator hose from the radiator.

  24. DISCONNECT NO. 2 RADIATOR HOSE


    1. A00OKPV

      Disconnect the No. 2 radiator hose from the radiator.

  25. DISCONNECT OIL COOLER HOSE (for CVT)

      Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the oil cooler pipe.

  26. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A00OJHW

      Disconnect the cooling fan ECU connector and wire harness clamp.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the connector.

    2. A00OJNJ

      Remove the radiator together with the fan shroud.

    3. Remove the 2 lower radiator supports.

  27. REMOVE OIL COOLER PIPE (for CVT)

      Disconnect the 2 oil cooler hoses from the radiator and oil cooler pipe.

    2. A00OI95

      Remove the 2 bolts and oil cooler pipe.

  28. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE


    1. A00OL43

      Remove the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the radiator.

  29. REMOVE FAN SHROUD


    1. A00OK33

      Remove the 2 bolts and fan shroud from the radiator.
