SFI SYSTEM Fuel Injector Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The fuel injectors are located on the intake manifold. They inject fuel into the cylinders based on the signals from the ECM.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR (POWER SOURCE)

      Disconnect the B10 to B13 fuel injector connectors.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage
      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      B11-1 - Body ground
      B12-1 - Body ground
      B13-1 - Body ground
    3. Reconnect the fuel injector connectors.

  2. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR (INJECTOR RESISTANCE)

    1. Disconnect the B10 to B13 fuel injector connectors.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 20°C (68°F) 13.4 to 14.2 Ω
    3. Reconnect the fuel injector connectors.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR - ECM)

      Disconnect the B39 ECM connector.

    2. Disconnect the B10 to B13 fuel injector connectors.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-2 - B39-108 (#10) Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-2 - B39-107 (#20)
      B12-2 - B39-106 (#30)
      B13-2 - B39-105 (#40)
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-2 or B39-108 (#10) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-2 or B39-107 (#20) - Body ground
      B12-2 or B39-106 (#30) - Body ground
      B13-2 or B39-105 (#40) - Body ground
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector connectors.

    5. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the B39 ECM connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B39-45 (E01) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      B39-44 (E02) - Body ground
    3. Reconnect the ECM connector.

  5. INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR (INJECTION AND VOLUME)

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (FUEL INJECTOR - INTEGRATION RELAY)

    1. Disconnect the B10 to B13 fuel injector connectors.

    2. Remove the integration relay from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 - 1A-4 Always Below 1 Ω
      B11-1 - 1A-4
      B12-1 - 1A-4
      B13-1 - 1A-4
      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      B10-1 or 1A-4 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      B11-1 or 1A-4 - Body ground
      B12-1 or 1A-4 - Body ground
      B13-1 or 1A-4 - Body ground
    4. Reconnect the fuel injector connectors.

    5. Reinstall the integration relay.
