SFI SYSTEM, Diagnostic DTC:P0560

DTC Code DTC Name
P0560 System Voltage

DESCRIPTION

The battery supplies electricity to the ECM even when the engine switch is off. This power allows the ECM to store data such as DTC history and freeze frame data. If the battery voltage falls below a minimum level, the memory is cleared and the ECM determines that there is a malfunction in the power supply circuit. When the engine is next started, the ECM illuminates the MIL and stores the DTC.

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
P0560 An open in the ECM back-up power source circuit (1 trip detection logic).
  • Open in back-up power source circuit

  • Battery

  • Battery terminals

  • EFI MAIN fuse

  • ECM

Tech Tips

If DTC P0560 is stored, the ECM does not store other DTCs and the data stored in the ECM are partly cleared.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuits related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

Tech Tips

Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

    1. Check the harness and connector between the EFI MAIN fuse and ECM.

      1. Remove the EFI MAIN fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

      2. Disconnect the A40 ECM connector.

      3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        2 (EFI MAIN fuse) - A40-20 (BATT) Always Below 1 Ω
        Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
2 (EFI MAIN fuse) or A40-20 (BATT) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      4. Reconnect the ECM connector.

      5. Reinstall the EFI MAIN fuse.

    2. Check the harness and connector between the EFI MAIN fuse and battery.

      1. Remove the EFI MAIN fuse from the engine room No. 1 relay block.

      2. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      3. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.

      4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance (Check for Open)
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
Battery positive (+) terminal - 1 (EFI MAIN fuse) Always Below 1 Ω
        Standard Resistance (Check for Short)
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
Battery positive (+) terminal or 1 (EFI MAIN fuse) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      5. Reconnect the cable to the positive (+) battery terminal.

      6. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.

      7. Reinstall the EFI MAIN fuse.
