ENGINE UNIT REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors.

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 ignition coils.

  2. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS HOSE

      Remove the 2 water by-pass hoses.

  3. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose.

    2. Disconnect the No. 1 throttle body hose.

    3. Remove the 4 bolts and throttle body.

      Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

  4. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps.

    2. Disconnect the 4 fuel injector connectors.

    3. A00DT2U

      Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the fuel delivery pipe together with the 4 fuel injectors.

      Note

      Be careful not to drop the fuel injectors when removing the fuel delivery pipe.

      Remove the 2 delivery pipe spacers from the cylinder head.

    5. Remove the 4 insulators from the cylinder head.

  5. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY

      Pull the 4 fuel injectors out of the fuel delivery pipe.

  6. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD


    1. Disconnect the connector tube hose from the brake booster.

    2. A00DPL2

      Disconnect the wire harness clamp.

    3. Remove the 5 bolts and 2 nuts.

    4. A00DPWN

      Remove the 2 stud bolts and intake manifold.

    5. A00DSWAE01

      Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 INTAKE MANIFOLD INSULATOR

      Remove the No. 1 intake manifold insulator from the cylinder block.

  8. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK

  9. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE


    1. A005WIK

      Remove the bolt and guide.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the guide.

  10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A005RTD

      Remove the bolt, nut and stay.

  11. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A005VJV

      Remove the bolt, nut and stay.

  12. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A005SRN

      Remove the 3 bolts, nut and insulator.

  13. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ASSEMBLY


    1. A005UCT

      Remove the 5 nuts, manifold and gasket.

  14. REMOVE NO. 1 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR


    1. A005W8O

      Remove the 4 bolts and insulator.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD CONVERTER INSULATOR

      Remove the 3 bolts and insulator.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 2 bolts and insulator.

  17. REMOVE IDLER PULLEY BRACKET

      Loosen the 2 bolts and remove the bracket together with the 2 bolts.

  18. REMOVE WATER INLET

    A005SMV

    1. Remove the 2 nuts and water inlet from the cylinder block.

  19. REMOVE THERMOSTAT

  20. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE


    1. A00DTDT

      Remove the bolt, 2 nuts, pipe and gasket.

  21. REMOVE NO. 1 TAPER SCREW PLUG


    1. A00DUVTE01

      Remove the plug from the cylinder block.

  22. REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR


    1. A00DT6PE01

      Disconnect the sensor connector.

    2. Remove the nut and sensor.

  23. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.

    2. A005UR5

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the oil pressure switch.

  24. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR


    1. A00DQDPE04

      Disconnect the sensor connector.

    2. Using SST, remove the sensor and gasket.

  25. REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER

      Remove the bolt and radio setting condenser.
