ENGINE UNIT REMOVAL


  1. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the throttle body connector and 2 water hoses.

    2. A005UFH

      Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and throttle body.

    3. Remove the gasket.

  2. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD

      Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket.

    2. Detach the 5 clamps and wire harness from the intake manifold.

    3. A005RS5

      Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose and ventilation hose.

    4. A005R5F

      Remove the 5 bolts, 2 nuts, intake manifold stay and intake manifold.

    5. A005W4E

      Remove the gasket from the intake manifold.

    6. A005UPX

      Remove the bolt and wire harness clamp bracket from the intake manifold.

    7. Using an E6 "TORX" socket wrench, remove the 2 stud bolts from the intake manifold.

  3. REMOVE AIR TUBE


    1. Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the purge VSV.

      Disconnect the 2 union to connector tube hoses.

    3. Disconnect the No. 2 air hose and No. 1 fuel vapor feed hose.

    4. Remove the 2 bolts and air tube.

  4. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET

      Remove the 2 nuts and wire harness clamp bracket.

  5. REMOVE FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the No. 2 fuel pipe clamp.

      Wipe off any dirt on the fuel tube connector.

    3. Hold the fuel tube connector and install SST.

    4. Turn SST to align the retainer inside the fuel tube connector with the chamfered part of SST.

    5. Insert SST into the fuel tube and hold it. Then push the fuel tube connector toward SST.

    6. Mount the retainer of the fuel tube connector onto the chamfered part of SST.

      Slide SST and the fuel tube connector together towards the fuel tube until they make a "click" sound, and then disconnect the fuel tube.

    8. Drain the fuel remaining inside the fuel tube.

    9. Cover the fuel tube and fuel pipe with a plastic bag to protect the disconnected parts.

  6. REMOVE FUEL DELIVERY PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY

      Remove the bolt and wire harness bracket.

    2. A00DU39

      Remove the 2 bolts.

    3. A00DTQG

      Remove the bolt and fuel delivery pipe.

    4. A00DPN6

      Remove the 2 No. 1 delivery pipe spacers.

  7. REMOVE FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY


    1. A00DTJM

      Pull the 4 fuel injector assemblies out of the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

    2. A00DRO2

      For reinstallation, attach a tag or label to the injector shaft.

      Note

      Prevent entry of foreign objects by covering the fuel injector with plastic bags.

    3. A00DUCM

      Remove the 4 injector vibration insulators.

  8. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE


    1. A00DTMF

      Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. Remove the bolt and dipstick guide.

    3. Remove the O-ring from the dipstick guide.

  9. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR

      Remove the 3 bolts and heat insulator.

  10. REMOVE MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A00DPVT

      Remove the 3 bolts and manifold stay.

  11. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD


    1. A00DTLY

      Remove the 5 nuts and exhaust manifold.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.

  12. REMOVE DRIVE SHAFT BEARING BRACKET

      Remove the 3 bolts and bearing bracket.

  13. REMOVE NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS PIPE (for CVT)

      Remove the 2 nuts, water by-pass pipe and gasket.

  14. REMOVE VENTILATION HOSE


    1. Remove the ventilation hose from the ventilation valve.

  15. DISCONNECT NO. 3 WATER BY-PASS HOSE

      Disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose from the water inlet housing.

  16. REMOVE WATER BY-PASS HOSE


    1. A00DQPQ

      Remove the clamp and water by-pass hose.

  17. REMOVE WATER INLET HOSE


    1. A00DRK0

      Remove the 2 clamps and water inlet hose.

  18. REMOVE NO. 1 WATER BY-PASS PIPE

      Remove the 2 bolts and water by-pass pipe.

  19. REMOVE WATER INLET


    1. A005S2M

      Remove the 2 nuts and water inlet.

  20. REMOVE THERMOSTAT


    1. A005RCI

      Remove the thermostat.

    2. Remove the gasket from the thermostat.

  21. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the 4 ignition coil connectors.

      Remove the 4 bolts and 4 ignition coils.

      Note

      When removing the ignition coil, do not damage the plug cap with the cylinder head cover opening or the upper edge of the spark plug tube.

  22. REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER

      Remove the bolt and setting condenser.

  23. REMOVE VACUUM PUMP ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 3 bolts and vacuum pump from the engine.

    2. A00DRSZ

      Remove the 2 O-rings from the vacuum pump.

  24. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM PUMP BRACKET


    1. A00DS75

      Remove the 2 bolts, vacuum pump bracket and gasket.
