WIPER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/ Rain Sensor)

      Component with harness connected

      (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

      Check the front washer operation (for LHD and RHD with Wiper Switch RH Side Type).


      1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal L38-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal L40-2 (EW).

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals L38-3 (+1) and L40-2 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

      Check the front washer operation (for Wiper Switch LH Side Type).


      1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal L38-2 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal L40-2 (EW).

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the washer switch on and off, and check the voltage between terminals L38-2 (+1) and L40-2 (EW).

        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.

  2. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (w/o Rain Sensor)

      (Windshield Wiper Switch Assembly)

      Check the front wiper intermittent operation.


      1. Connect a voltmeter positive (+) lead to terminal L38-3 (+1) and a negative (-) lead to terminal L40-2 (EW).

      2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

      3. Turn the wiper switch to the INT position.

      4. Operate the intermittent wiper and check the voltage between terminals L38-3 (+1) and L40-2 (EW).

        OK
        Voltage changes as shown in the illustration.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the windshield wiper switch assembly.
