LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL INSTALLATION


  1. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. When using a new lower instrument panel sub-assembly:


      1. Immediately before installing the lower instrument panel sub-assembly, twist and cut off the portions shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the lower instrument panel sub-assembly with the 4 bolts <B>, 11 bolts <C> and screw <D>.

    3. Engage each clamp.

  2. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. When using a new lower instrument panel sub-assembly:


      1. Immediately before installing the lower instrument panel sub-assembly, twist and cut off the portions shown in the illustration.

    2. Install the lower instrument panel sub-assembly with the 4 bolts <B>, 11 bolts <C> and screw <D>.

    4. Engage the 2 claws.

  3. INSTALL ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. for Plug Type Antenna Cord:


      1. Engage the 4 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the 2 connectors.

    2. for Connector Type Antenna Cord:


      1. Engage the 4 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the connector.

    3. w/ Digital Audio Broadcasting Antenna:


      1. Engage the 5 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the 2 connectors.

  4. INSTALL ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. for Plug Type Antenna Cord:


      1. Engage the 5 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the 2 connectors.

    2. for Connector Type Antenna Cord:


      1. Engage the 5 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the connector.

    3. w/ Digital Audio Broadcasting Antenna:


      1. Engage the 6 clamps.

      2. Install the antenna cord sub-assembly with the bolt.

      3. Connect the 2 connectors.

  5. INSTALL GLOVE BOX LIGHT ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the glove box light assembly.

    2. Connect the connector.

  6. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the claw and guide.

    2. Install the glove compartment door lock assembly with the screw <D>.

  7. INSTALL POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the power steering ECU assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque:
      8.0 N*m  { 82 kgf*cm, 71 in.*lbf }

    2. Connect the 3 connectors to the power steering ECU assembly.

      Connect the connector to the power steering ECU assembly.

      Tech Tips

      As shown in the illustration, return the lock lever to its original position to connect the connector and securely push in the lock of the lock lever.

    4. Engage the wire harness clamp to the power steering ECU assembly.

  8. INSTALL COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY


    1. A0042LO

      Engage the clip.

    2. Install the combination meter assembly with the 3 screws.

    3. Engage the clamp.

    4. Connect the 3 connectors.

  9. INSTALL NO. 1 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT


    1. Install the No. 1 heater to register duct with the 3 clips.

  10. INSTALL COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH

  11. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

  12. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR STOPPER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the claw to install the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.

  13. INSTALL GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

      With the glove compartment door assembly opened approximately 55° from its closed position, engage the 2 hinges horizontally.

      Note

      Engaging the hinges from the top will deform the hinges. Be sure to install the glove compartment door assembly horizontally.

      *1 Glove Compartment Door Stopper Sub-assembly
      *2 Stopper

      Slightly bend the stoppers (A) and (B) in the directions indicated by the arrows in the illustration and engage the stoppers to install the glove compartment door assembly.

    3. Engage the claw and connect the glove compartment door stopper sub-assembly.

  14. INSTALL NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Engage the guide and 3 claws to install the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.

  15. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Connect the airbag connector and engage the clamp to the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.

      Note

      When connecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    4. Push in the lock to install the airbag connector.

    5. Temporarily install the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly with the 6 claws and 4 guides.

    6. Engage the 2 claws to install the DLC3.

    7. Install the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      10 N*m  { 102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Confirm that the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly is installed securely without any excessive gaps and is not protruding outward.

  16. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Engage the guide and claw.

    3. Install the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly with the 2 screws <D>.

  17. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD)


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. Engage the guide and 2 claws.

    3. Install the No. 1 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly with the screw <D>.

  18. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER


    1. A004405

      Engage the 2 claws and 2 pins to install the upper steering column cover.

  19. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER

    Note

    If the lower steering column cover is installed in the incorrect order, it will not be possible to assemble the lower steering column cover.

      Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.

      Engage the 4 claws.

      Engage the 2 claws.

      Tech Tips

      Press the area around the claws to engage them.

  20. INSTALL NO. 1 SWITCH HOLE BASE


    1. Connect the connector.

    2. Engage the 5 claws to install the No. 1 switch hole base.

  21. INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Temporarily install the console box assembly.

      Engage the 9 claws as shown in the illustration.

    3. A0041B3

      Install the upper instrument panel finish panel assembly with the 2 bolts <A>.

    4. Engage the clamp.

  22. INSTALL SHIFT LOCK CONTROL UNIT ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the shift lock control unit assembly with the 3 nuts.

      Torque:
      12 N*m  { 122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf }

    2. Connect the connector to the shift lock control unit assembly.

  23. INSTALL AIR CONDITIONING CONTROL ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect the connector.

      Engage the 4 claws to install the air conditioning control assembly.

  24. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. A004076

      Engage the 4 guides and 2 claws as shown in the illustration.

    3. Install the console box assembly with the bolt <B> and 2 clips.

  25. INSTALL BOX BOTTOM MAT


    1. Install the box bottom mat.

  26. INSTALL FRONT NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX INSERT


    1. A00444WE01

      Engage the guide and 4 claws to install the front No. 2 console box insert as shown in the illustration.

  27. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX INSERT

      Engage the guide and 4 claws to install the console box insert as shown in the illustration.

  28. INSTALL NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX MOUNTING BRACKET


    1. Install the No. 2 console box mounting bracket with the 6 bolts <B>.

  29. INSTALL NO. 1 INDOOR ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA ASSEMBLY


    1. Engage the clamp and install the No. 1 indoor electrical key antenna assembly.

      Note

      Be careful when installing the No. 1 indoor electrical key antenna assembly. If the No. 1 indoor electrical key antenna assembly is dropped, replace it with a new one.

    2. Connect the connector.

  30. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY


    1. Connect each connector.

    2. A0040HR

      Engage the 8 claws as shown in the illustration.

    3. Install the rear console box assembly with the 5 bolts.

  31. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX CARPET


    1. Install the console box carpet.

  32. INSTALL REAR CONSOLE BOX CUP HOLDER


    1. A0043UQ

      Engage the 4 claws to install the rear console box cup holder as shown in the illustration.

  33. INSTALL UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY

  34. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER


    1. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    2. Check that all available shift positions can be selected moving the shift lever.

      Tech Tips

      After the shift lock control unit assembly is replaced with a new one, perform the above operation. If this operation is not performed, moving the shift lever may not initially select shift positions.
