FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL


  1. PRECAUTION

    CAUTION:

    Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Click here.

    Note

    After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL GARNISH

    Click here

  3. DISCONNECT NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE


    1. Check that the power switch is off.

    2. Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal.

      CAUTION:

      Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

      Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the connector.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

  4. REMOVE UPPER INSTRUMENT PANEL ASSEMBLY


    1. Disconnect each connector.

    2. Disengage the 2 clamps.

    3. Remove the 2 bolts <B>.

    4. Remove the 2 instrument panel passenger airbag assembly bolts <A>.

    5. for LHD:


      1. Remove the bolt <D>.

    6. Pull the upper instrument panel assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 2 claws and 4 clips.

    7. Pull the upper instrument panel assembly in the direction indicated by the arrow to disengage the 5 claws and remove the upper instrument panel assembly.

  5. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:

    When storing the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

      Remove the 2 screws and 2 clamps.

      Lean the instrument panel and disengage the 3 hooks as shown in the illustration.

    3. A0041T9

      Disengage the 3 hooks to remove the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly as shown in the illustration.

  6. REMOVE NO. 3 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

      *3 Airbag Connector Lock

      Disengage the clamp.

    2. Separate the No. 3 instrument panel wire from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly clamp.

    3. Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector lock.

    4. Disconnect the airbag connector to remove the No. 3 instrument panel wire from the instrument panel passenger airbag assembly.

      Note

      When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
