DESCRIPTION

The engine hood courtesy switch is installed together with the hood lock. This switch turns on when the engine hood is closed and turns off when the engine hood is opened.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. READ VALUE USING GTS


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Turn the GTS on.

    4. Select the item below in the Data List and read the display on the GTS.

      ON: Engine hood open

      OFF: Engine hood closed

      The indicator on the GTS switches between ON and OFF in accordance with the engine hood courtesy switch status.

  2. INSPECT INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) Click here.

    2. Disconnect the 2C instrument panel junction block assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      2C-38 - A-20 (HCTY) Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Disconnect the A47 engine hood courtesy switch (hood lock assembly) connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A47-2 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE HOOD COURTESY SWITCH (HOOD LOCK ASSEMBLY) - MAIN BODY ECU (MULTIPLEX NETWORK BODY ECU))


    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A47-1 - 2C-38 Always Below 1 Ω
      A47-1 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
