DESCRIPTION


INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:


  • When disposing of HV batteries and hybrid vehicle supply stack sub-assemblies, make sure to return them through an authorized collection agent who is capable of handling them safely. If they are returned via the manufacturer specified route, they will be returned properly and in a safe manner by an authorized collection agent.

  • Before returning the HV battery, make sure to perform recovery inspection Click here.

  • Before returning the hybrid vehicle supply stack sub-assembly, make sure to perform recovery inspection Click here.

  • Make a note of the output DTCs as some of them may be necessary for recovery inspection of the HV battery and hybrid vehicle supply stack sub-assemblies.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    4. Check if DTCs are output.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      P1A40-123 only is output. A
      DTCs other than P1A40-123 are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

  2. READ VALUE USING GTS (VB1 - VB8)


    1. Ensure the safety of the areas in front and at the back of the vehicle.

    2. Apply the parking brake and secure the wheels using chocks.

    3. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    4. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    5. Fully warm up the engine and turn the air conditioning off.

    6. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Battery block Vol - V01 to V08.

    7. Firmly depress the brake pedal with your left foot.

    8. Move the select lever to D.

    9. Record each battery block voltage from the data list (Battery block Vol -V01 to V08) while fully depressing the accelerator pedal.

    10. Compare the battery block voltages (Battery block Vol -V01 to V08) between the even and odd number groups in each combination shown in the table below.

      Tech Tips

      When an internal malfunction occurs in the battery smart unit, this symptom (difference in voltage of 0.6 V or more for all 4 pairs of blocks) will occur.

    11. Turn the power switch off.

    12. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.
