INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:


  • Before inspecting the high-voltage system or disconnecting the low voltage connector of the inverter with converter assembly or electric vehicle charger assembly, turn the power switch off. Also, take safety precautions such as wearing insulated gloves and removing the service plug grip to prevent electrical shocks. After removing the service plug grip, put it in your pocket to prevent other technicians from accidentally reconnecting it while you are working on the high-voltage system.

  • After removing the service plug grip, wait for at least 10 minutes before touching any of the high-voltage connectors or terminals. After waiting for 10 minutes, check the voltage at the terminals in the inspection point in the inverter with converter assembly. The voltage should be 0 V before beginning work Click here.

    Tech Tips

    Waiting for at least 10 minutes is required to discharge the high-voltage capacitor inside the inverter with converter assembly and electric vehicle charger assembly.

Note

After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notices before proceeding with work Click here.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    4. Read output DTCs.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      P31AB-123, P1A61-123 ,P1A64-123, P1A67-123 is not output A
      P31AB-123, P1A61-123 ,P1A64-123, P1A67-12 is output B

    5. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

    6. Turn the power switch off.

  2. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    5. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    4. Read output DTCs.

    5. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

  5. CLEAR DTC (HYBRID CONTROL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Trouble Codes.

    4. Clear the DTCs and freeze frame data Click here.

    5. Perform a road test to charge and discharge the HV battery.

      Tech Tips

      2 trip detection logic is used. After the first road test, turn the power switch off and perform a road test again.

    6. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

    7. Turn the power switch off.

  6. CHECK DATA LIST


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List.

    4. Check "Power Resource IB" in the Data List.

    5. Apply the parking brake and secure the wheels using chocks.

    6. Turn the power switch on (READY).

    7. Make sure that the engine is stopped.

      Tech Tips

      If the engine starts, wait until the engine stops (SOC (state of charge) approximately 21%).

    8. With park (P) selected, repeat the following procedure 3 times in 10-second intervals and measure the current.


      1. Turn the air conditioning system off.

      2. Turn the air conditioning system on (MAX COLD).

        Tech Tips


        • Perform this procedure with minimum electric load.

        • Current when the air conditioning system is off: approximately 1 A.

        • Current when the air conditioning system is on: approximately 10 A.

    9. Turn the power switch off.

  7. RECONFIRM DTC OUTPUT (HYBRID CONTROL)


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).

    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Power Resource IB.

    4. Read output DTCs Click here.

      Result
      Result Proceed to
      The current changes 5 A or more when the A/C power switch is turned on. A
      The current changes less than 5 A when the A/C power switch is turned on. B

    5. Disconnect the GTS from the DLC3.

    6. Turn the power switch off.
