WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION


  1. INSPECT AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY (REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH) (for Automatic Air Conditioning System)

    1. Measure the voltage of the connector.

      Standard measurement
      Tester Connection Wiring Color Terminal Description Condition Specified Condition
      A16 - 12 (RDFG) - A16 - 1 (GND) R-L - L Rear defogger switch signal

      Ignition switch ON

      Rear window defogger switch OFF

      		 10 to 14 V
      A16 - 12 (RDFG) - A16 - 1 (GND) R-L - L Rear defogger switch signal

      Ignition switch ON

      Rear window defogger switch ON

      		 Below 1.0 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the A/C amplifier and heater control base sub-assembly.

  2. INSPECT REAR WINDOW DEFOGGER SWITCH ASSEMBLY (for Manual Air Conditioning System)

    1. Check the illumination area of the switch.

      Standard measurement
      Measurement Condition Specified Condition

      Battery positive (+) → 1 (ILL+)

      Battery negative (-) → 1 (ILL+)

      		 Illuminates

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.

      Tech Tips

      The ON/OFF indicator of the switch will not illuminate.

      Check ON/OFF indicator of the switch.


      1. Push the switch several times. Check that the ON/OFF indicator illuminates or turns off according to switch operation.

        Standard measurement

        Battery positive (+) → 5 (IG)

        Battery negative (-) → 3 (E)

        		 Defogger switch ON Illuminates

        If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.

        Tech Tips

        The illumination area of the switch will not illuminate.

    3. A01J6WAE01

      Measure the resistance of the switch.

      Standard resistance
      Measurement Condition Specified Condition Specified Condition
      4 (D) - 3 (E) ON Below 1 Ω
      4 (D) - 3 (E) OFF 10 kΩ or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assembly.
