AIR CONDITIONING SWITCH (for Manual Air Conditioning System) INSPECTION

  1. INSPECT A/C SWITCH

    A01J675E01

    1. Using an electrical tester, check if the diodes are functioning normally.

      Tech Tips

      • As the switch has diodes, resistance inspection cannot be performed. Use the tester's diodes check function to check the diodes.

      • Connect the tester's leads as shown in the table below. If the leads are not connected correctly, the readings will not be accurate. Connect the tester's positive (+) lead to the diode's positive (+) side, and the negative (-) lead to the diode's negative (-) side.

      1. Set the function selector switch to diode check function mode, and check that the diodes are functioning normally.

Reference voltage (diode check function mode)
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

        Positive (+) side → Terminal 6

        Negative (-) side → Terminal 5

        ON 0.4 to 0.8 V
        OFF Same as initial value*

        Tech Tips

*: The initial value is the voltage displayed when the tester is in diode check function mode and the tester's leads are not connected.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the switch connector and check that the indicator light illuminates.

      OK
Measurement Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition

      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 6

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 4

      ON Indicator light illuminates
OFF Indicator light does not illuminate

      Tech Tips

When the battery's negative (-) lead is applied to terminal 6 and the positive (+) lead is applied to terminal 4, the indicator light does not illuminate.

    3. Apply battery voltage to the switch connector and check that the illumination light illuminates.

      OK
      Measurement Connection Specified Condition

      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 3

      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 1

      Illumination light illuminates

If the result is not as specified, replace the bulb or switch.
