VANE PUMP (for 2TR-FE) REASSEMBLY


  1. INSTALL VANE PUMP HOUSING OIL SEAL

    A01J5U1E01

    1. Using SST and a press, press in a new oil seal.

      SST
      09950-60010
      09950-70010   ( 09951-00280, 09951-07100 )

      Note


      • Make sure to install the oil seal facing the correct direction.

      • Be careful not to damage the oil seal.

  2. INSTALL SHAFT WITH PULLEY

    A01J470E01

    1. Coat the shaft with power steering fluid.

    2. Tape the serrated part of the shaft.

      Note

      Be careful not to damage the oil seal.

  3. INSTALL FRONT VANE PUMP SIDE PLATE

    1. Coat a new No. 2 O-ring with power steering fluid.

    2. Install the No. 2 O-ring to the front housing.

    3. A01J6GJE02

      Coat a new No. 1 O-ring with power steering fluid.

    4. Install the No. 1 O-ring to the front side plate.

    5. A01J44HE01

      Install the front side plate to the front housing while aligning the semicircle-shaped cuts of both parts.

      Note

      Be sure to install the plate in the correct position and direction.

  4. INSTALL VANE PUMP CAM RING

    A01J5WUE01

    1. With the inscribed mark facing upward, install the vane pump cam ring to the front vane pump housing while aligning the semicircle-shaped cuts of both parts.

      Note

      Be sure to install the plate in the correct position and direction.

  5. INSTALL VANE PUMP ROTOR

    A01J73HE01

    1. Install the vane pump rotor to the front vane pump housing.

      Tech Tips

      The top and bottom of the vane pump rotor are symmetrical.

    2. A01J6JBE01

      Coat the 10 vane pump plates with power steering fluid.

    3. Install the 10 vane pump plates.

      Note

      Make sure that the round ends of the vane pump plates are facing outward.

  6. INSTALL VANE PUMP SHAFT SNAP RING

    1. Using a screwdriver and snap ring expander, install a new snap ring to the shaft with pulley.

  7. INSTALL REAR VANE PUMP HOUSING

    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the rear housing.

    2. Align the straight pin of the rear housing with the hole created by the semicircle-shaped cuts of the cam ring, front side plate and front housing. Then install the rear housing with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      22 N*m  { 224 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Make sure that the O-ring is not out of position before installing the rear vane pump housing.

  8. INSPECT PRELOAD

    1. Check that the pump rotates smoothly without abnormal noise.

    2. Temporarily install the service bolt.

    3. Using a torque wrench, check the pump rotating torque.

      Recommended service bolt
      Item Specified Condition
      Thread Diameter 10 mm (0.39 in.)
      Thread Pitch 1.25 mm (0.0492 in.)
      Bolt Length 50 mm (1.97 in.)
      Standard rotating torque
      0.27 N*m (2.8 kgf*cm, 2.4 in.*lbf) or less

      If the rotating torque is not as specified, check the installation of the housing oil seal.

  9. INSTALL POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SWITCH


    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it to the oil pressure switch.

    2. Install the oil pressure switch onto the vane pump.

      Torque:
      21 N*m  { 214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf }
  10. INSTALL FLOW CONTROL VALVE

    A01J58CE01

    1. Coat the compression spring and flow control valve with power steering fluid.

    2. Install the compression spring.

    3. Install the flow control valve facing in the correct direction.

    4. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid and install it onto the pressure port union.

    5. Install the pressure port union.

      Torque:
      69 N*m  { 704 kgf*cm, 51 ft.*lbf }
  11. INSTALL VANE PUMP OIL RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. Coat a new O-ring with power steering fluid, and install it to the vane pump reservoir.

    2. Install the vane pump reservoir to the vane pump with the 3 bolts.

      Torque:
      9.0 N*m  { 92 kgf*cm, 80 in.*lbf }
