AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SYSTEM L4 Position Switch Circuit

DESCRIPTION

The No. 1 transfer indicator switch (L4 position switch) detects the gear position of the transfer shift lever.

Moving the transfer shift lever to L4 turns the L4 position switch ON. Then the TCM cancels operation of the lock-up clutch.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT NO. 1 TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH (L4 POSITION SWITCH)


    1. A01J3GCE03

      Remove the transfer indicator switch.

    2. Measure the resistance of the switch when pushing the ball at the tip of the switch.

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Not pushed 10 kΩ or higher
      1 - 2 Pushed Below 1 Ω

  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (NO. 1 TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH - TCM AND BODY GROUND)

    1. Disconnect the T5 switch connector.

    2. Disconnect the E17 ECM connector.

    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance
      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      E17-13 (L4) - T5-1 (L4) Below 1 Ω
      T5-2 (L4) - Body ground Below 1 Ω
      E17-13 (L4) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
