EXHAUST PIPE REMOVAL

CAUTION:


  • Wear protective gloves when removing the exhaust pipe assembly.

  • The exhaust pipe assembly is extremely hot immediately after the engine has stopped.

  • Confirm that the exhaust pipe assembly has cooled down before removing it.


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

  2. REMOVE TAILPIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

    2. Disconnect the tailpipe from the center exhaust pipe and remove the gasket.

    3. Remove the tailpipe from the exhaust pipe support.

  3. REMOVE CENTER EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.

    2. Disconnect the center exhaust pipe from the front exhaust pipe and remove the gasket.

    3. Remove the center exhaust pipe from the 3 exhaust pipe supports.

  4. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (w/ Secondary Air Injection System)

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

    2. Detach the 3 wire harness clamps.

      Using SST, remove the air fuel ratio sensor.

  5. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (w/o Secondary Air Injection System)


    1. A01J692

      Disconnect the sensor connector.

    2. Detach the 3 wire clamps.

      Using SST, remove the sensor.

  6. REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (w/ Secondary Air Injection System)


    1. A01J2YA

      Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.

    2. Detach the sensor wire from the clamp.

    3. A01J7E6E01

      Using SST, remove the heated oxygen sensor.

  7. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY


    1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

    2. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust manifold and remove the gasket.

    3. Remove the front exhaust pipe from the exhaust pipe support.
