LIGHTING SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SYSTEM

    • When the light control switch is in the AUTO position, the automatic light control sensor detects ambient light levels and outputs a signal to the main body ECU. The main body ECU controls the low beam headlights, clearance lights, taillights and license plate lights.

  2. LIGHT AUTO TURN-OFF SYSTEM

    • The light auto turn-off system is used to prevent the driver from leaving the vehicle with the headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, clearance lights, taillights and license plate lights on.

      Switch Condition Outline
Light control switch in AUTO position While the lights (headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, taillights and license plate lights) are turned on, this control automatically turns them off when the ignition switch is turned from ON (IG) to off.
Light control switch in TAIL or HEAD position While the lights (headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, taillights and license plate lights) are turned on, this control automatically turns off only headlights and the front fog lights*1 when the ignition switch is turned from ON (IG) to off.

      • *1: w/ Fog Light

  3. DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT SYSTEM

The daytime running light system is designed to automatically illuminate the daytime running lights during the daytime to make the vehicle more visible to other vehicles.

    • This system is controlled by the main body ECU. The main body ECU transmits a turn on signal to the DRL relay*1 or running light relay*2, which illuminates the high-intensity clearance light*1 or low-intensity low beam headlight*2.

    • There are 2 LED type clearance light circuits in each clearance light assembly. One is for a conventional low-intensity clearance light that illuminates with the taillights, and the other is for the high-intensity clearance light that is used for the DRL system.*1

      *1: for DRL LED Type

      *2: for DRL Bulb Type

    • This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

      • Ignition switch ON (IG).

      • READY condition is received.

      • The light control switch is in off or AUTO position (and the low beam headlights, taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights, are not turned on via the automatic light control system).

      • Parking brake switch off (*1).

    • *1: Vehicles with daytime running light illumination control that uses the release of the parking brake

    Tech Tips

    • Some vehicles are equipped with daytime running light illumination control that uses the release of the parking brake, however some vehicles do not utilize the release of the parking brake for daytime running light illumination control.

    • When the taillights, clearance lights and license plate lights are turned on while the daytime running lights are on, the daytime running lights will turn off.

  4. FOLLOW ME HOME SYSTEM

    1. The follow me home system is designed to illuminate the low beam headlights for certain period after the vehicle is parked.

      • This system is controlled by the main body ECU.

      • This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

        • Ignition switch is off.

        • The light control switch is in off or AUTO position.

        • The dimmer switch is pulled to flash headlights once.

  5. BATTERY SAVER SYSTEM

    1. The battery saver system is designed to automatically turn off the headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, taillights and license plate lights if the doors and the light control switch remain in the same condition for 20 minutes or more when the ignition switch is off, the light control switch is in the AUTO or HEAD position and the headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, taillights and license plate lights are on.

      • This system is controlled by the main body ECU.

      • This system is enabled when the following conditions are met:

        • Ignition switch is off.

        • The light control switch is in AUTO or HEAD position (headlights, front fog lights*1, rear fog lights, taillights and license plate lights are on).

        • The doors and the light control switch remain in the same condition for 20 minutes or more.

        • *1: w/ Fog Light
