CAUTION:

The pre-crash safety city sensor uses lasers to detect preceding vehicles. The pre-crash safety city sensor is classified as a Class 1M laser product according to the IEC 60825-1 standard. These lasers are not harmful to the naked eye. However, it is necessary to observe the following precautions. Failure to do so may result in severe visual impairment, or at worst, loss of eyesight.


  • To avoid hazardous radiation exposure, never attempt to disassemble the pre-crash safety city sensor or perform maintenance procedures that are not described in the repair manual. When disassembled, the pre-crash safety city sensor is classified as a Class 3B laser product according to the IEC 60825-1 standard and poses an eye injury risk.

  • When removing the pre-crash safety city sensor, be sure to disconnect the connector before removing the pre-crash safety city sensor.

  • Do not attempt to observe the pre-crash safety city sensor with an optical instrument such as a magnifying glass or microscope from a distance of 100 mm or less.

  • As the pre-crash safety city sensor may be hot, be careful not to burn or injure yourself.

Note


  • When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor, replace it with a new one.

  • Do not touch the camera lens or the front windshield glass in front of the camera.

  • If the pre-crash safety city sensor has been struck or dropped, replace it with a new one.

  • When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a pre-crash safety city sensor, make sure to use a Toyota genuine part. If a non-Toyota genuine part is used, the pre-crash safety city sensor may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the pre-crash safety system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity of the windshield glass or the shape of the black ceramic border.

PROCEDURE


  1. REMOVE PRE-CRASH SAFETY 2ND CITY COVER

      Disengage the 2 claws and 2 guides to remove the pre-crash safety 2nd city cover as shown in the illustration.

      Note

      If these claws are disengaged separately, they may break. Insert a molding remover between them and pull it down to disengage the claws simultaneously.

  2. REMOVE PRE-CRASH SAFETY CITY COVER

      Disengage the 2 clips and 4 guides to remove the pre-crash safety city cover as shown in the illustration.

  3. REMOVE PRE-CRASH SAFETY CITY SENSOR

      Disconnect the connector.

      Note

      Do not pull the harness forcibly when disconnecting the connector.

      Disengage the 2 claws to separate the rear side of pre-crash safety city sensor.

      Note


      • If the pre-crash safety city sensor bracket is deformed or damaged, replace it together with the windshield glass.

      • If the pre-crash safety city sensor is dropped, replace it with a new one.

      • Do not touch the camera lens.

    3. Disengage the 2 guides to remove the pre-crash safety city sensor as shown in the illustration.
