PRE-CRASH SAFETY SYSTEM PRECAUTION

  1. IGNITION SWITCH EXPRESSION

    Tech Tips

The type of ignition switch used on this model differs according to the specifications of the vehicles. The expressions listed in the table below are used in this section.

Expression Ignition Switch (Position) Power Switch (Condition)
Ignition Switch off LOCK Off (Lock)
Ignition Switch ACC ACC On (ACC)
Ignition Switch ON (IG) ON (IG) On (IG)
Ignition Switch ON (READY) ON (READY) On (Ready)
  2. PRECAUTIONS FOR TROUBLESHOOTING

    1. If the malfunction is due to connectors being loosely connected, or improper installation of parts, reconnecting the connectors or removing and reinstalling the parts may temporarily or completely correct the problem.

    2. To determine the malfunctioning area, use DTCs, freeze frame data and other data to help determine conditions at the time of the malfunction. Write down the data before disconnecting connectors or removing and installing parts.

    3. The pre-crash safety system may be affected by malfunctions in other systems. Check for DTCs in other systems and, if present, troubleshoot those DTCs first.

  3. SERVICE PRECAUTIONS

    1. For parts that do not have specific inspection methods, perform all removal and installation procedures with the ignition switch off.

    2. After removal and installation of parts has been performed, check for DTCs and confirm that none are output.

  4. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING PRE-CRASH SAFETY CITY SENSOR

    1. If the pre-crash safety city sensor has been replaced, or the windshield glass has been replaced or removed/installed, be sure to perform Recognition Camera/Target Position Memory and Recognition Camera Axis Adjust. If not performed, DTC C1AA9 will be stored when the system is turned on.

      • Perform adjustment using "ONE TIME RECOGNITION" or "SEQUENTIAL RECOGNITION".

    2. When replacing the pre-crash safety city sensor, replace it with a new one. If a pre-crash safety city sensor which was installed to another vehicle is used, the information stored in the pre-crash safety city sensor will not match the information from the vehicle and, as a result, a DTC may be stored.

    3. When replacing or removing and installing the pre-crash safety city sensor, do not damage the camera lens or allow it to become contaminated with foreign matter.

    4. Do not reuse a pre-crash safety city sensor that has been dropped or subjected to a strong impact.

  5. PRECAUTION FOR REPLACING WINDSHIELD GLASS

    1. When replacing the windshield glass of a vehicle equipped with a pre-crash safety city sensor, make sure to use a Toyota genuine part. If a non-Toyota genuine part is used, the pre-crash safety city sensor may not be able to be installed due to a missing bracket or the pre-crash safety system may not operate properly due to a difference in the transmissivity or black ceramic border.

    2. A004FRM

Do not attach stickers, including transparent stickers, or other items to the outer side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration in front of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Vertical range: from the top of the windshield glass to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the bottom of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

    3. A004EAT

Do not install or attach anything to the inner side of the windshield glass within the area shown in the illustration below the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Vertical range: from the bottom of the precrash safety city sensor to approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) below the pre-crash safety city sensor.

      • Horizontal range: approximately 10 cm (3.94 in.) to the left and right of the center of the pre-crash safety city sensor.

    4. Do not attach window tint to the windshield glass.

    5. Do not apply film to the windshield glass.
