FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY REMOVAL

CAUTION:


  • Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing Click here.

  • If the side airbag was deployed, replace the front seat airbag assembly, separate type front seatback spring assembly, separate type front seatback cover and separate type front seatback pad with a new one.

  • Wear protective gloves. Sharp areas on the parts may injure your hands.

Note

Always use E10 "TORX" socket wrench when removing the front seat.

Tech Tips

The procedure described below is for the driver side. Use the same procedure for both the driver and front passenger sides, unless otherwise specified.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH (for Front Floor Cover Type A)

  3. REMOVE CENTER FRONT FLOOR COVER (for Front Floor Cover Type B)

  4. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER RH (for Front Floor Cover Type B)

  5. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

    CAUTION:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

    Note

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Click here.

  6. REMOVE SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD

  7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    1. A004EGH

      Disengage the 7 clamps to separate the front seat side airbag wire harness.

    2. A004EEL

      Disengage the 2 clamps.

    3. A004EOU

      Remove the 2 nuts and the front seat side airbag assembly.

      CAUTION:


      • The nuts must not be reused.

      • Make sure that the front seatback spring assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.
