ENTRY AND START SYSTEM(for Entry Function) Driver Side Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate

DESCRIPTION

If the entry lock and unlock functions do not operate for the driver door only, the request code may not be being transmitted from the driver door or the front door outside handle assembly (for driver door) (touch sensor) may be malfunctioning. If the entry functions for other doors operate properly, communication between the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly and door control receiver is normal. In this case, there may be a problem with request code transmission (communication between the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) and front door outside handle assembly (for driver side door) [driver door electrical key antenna]), or there may be wave interference.

CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT

Note

  • When using the GTS with the vehicle power switch off, connect the GTS to the vehicle and turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less until communication between the GTS and the vehicle begins. Then select the Model Code "KEY REGIST" under manual mode and enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Entry & Start(CAN). While using the GTS, periodically turn a courtesy light switch on and off at intervals of 1.5 seconds or less to maintain communication between the GTS and the vehicle.

  • The entry and start system (for Entry Function) uses a LIN communication system and CAN communication system. Inspect the communication function by following How to Proceed with Troubleshooting Click here. Troubleshoot the entry and start system (for Entry Function) after confirming that the communication system is functioning properly.

  • Before replacing the certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly), refer to the entry and start system (for Entry Function) precaution Click here.

  • Check that there are no electrical key transmitter sub-assemblies in the vehicle.

  • When checking the entry lock operation multiple times, the lock operation may be limited to 2 consecutive operations depending on the settings. In order to perform the entry lock operation 3 or more times, an unlock operation must be performed once (any type of unlock operation is sufficient). However, only consecutive entry lock operations are limited. Using the wireless lock or other types of lock operations, it is possible to perform consecutive lock operations without this limitation.

PROCEDURE

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION

    1. When the door control switch on the power window regulator master switch assembly is operated, check that the doors unlock and lock according to switch operation Click here.

      OK
      Door locks operate normally.

  2. CHECK WAVE ENVIRONMENT

      *a Approximately 0.3 m (0.98 ft.)

Bring the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly near the front door outside handle assembly, and perform a driver door entry lock and unlock operation check.

      Note

If the key is brought within 0.2 m (0.656 ft.) of the door outside handle assembly, communication is not possible.

      Tech Tips

      • When the electrical key transmitter sub-assembly is brought near the front door outside handle assembly, the possibility of wave interference decreases, and it can be determined if wave interference is causing the problem symptom.

      • If the operation is normal, the possibility of wave interference is high. Also, added vehicle components may cause wave interference. If installed, remove them and perform the operation check.

      OK
      Entry functions operate normally.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) - FRONT DOOR OUTSIDE HANDLE ASSEMBLY (FOR DRIVER SIDE DOOR))

    1. Disconnect the F86 certification ECU (smart key ECU assembly) connector.

    2. Disconnect the H9*1 or G9*2 front door outside handle assembly (for driver side door) connector.
