REAR BRAKE INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL REAR DISC

    *a Matchmark

    1. Align the matchmarks of the rear disc and the rear axle hub and install the rear disc.

      Note

      When replacing the rear disc, select the position that gives the minimum disc runout.

  2. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING


    1. Install the rear disc brake cylinder mounting to the axle beam with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      57 N*m  { 585 kgf*cm, 42 ft.*lbf }
  3. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT

      *1 Lithium Soap Base Glycol Grease

      Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to 2 new rear disc brake bush dust boots.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to each rear disc brake bush dust boot.

    2. Install the 2 rear disc brake bush dust boots onto the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  4. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE PAD


    1. Install the 2 rear disc brake pads onto the rear disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the disc brake pads or the rear disc.

  5. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY


    1. When the brake pad is replaced with a new one.

        Using SST, screw the piston to the end by turning it clockwise as far as possible while pressing down strongly.

        SST

        Note

        Do not damage the piston or cylinder boot.

      *1 Lithium Soap Base Glycol Grease

      Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the slide bolts.

    3. Using "TORX" socket wrench T45, install the disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 slide bolts.

      Torque:
      28 N*m  { 280 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf }
    4. Install the 2 slide bolt caps.

  6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING

    1. Push end A of the rear disc brake anti-rattle spring into the groove of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly and install the rear disc brake anti-rattle spring sliding arm A' onto the rear disc brake cylinder mounting anchor.

      Push the rear disc brake anti-rattle spring in the direction of the arrow to flex it until end B can be inserted into the groove of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

      While pushing end B of the rear disc brake anti-rattle spring into the groove of the rear disc brake cylinder assembly, flex rear disc brake anti-rattle spring sliding arm B' and install arm B' onto the rear disc brake cylinder mounting anchor.

      Make sure that the rear disc brake anti-rattle spring is securely installed.

  7. INSTALL REAR BRAKE TUBE FLEXIBLE HOSE

      *a Lock Hole

      Install the rear brake tube flexible hose with a new union bolt and a new gasket.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 310 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Install the rear brake tube flexible hose lock securely into the lock hole in the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

  8. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the casing cap onto the rear disc brake cylinder guide.

    2. Install the parking brake cable end to the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever.

  9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL

  10. BLEED BRAKE LINE

    Click here

  11. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
  12. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL

  13. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE LEVER TRAVEL
