FRONT BRAKE INSTALLATION

PROCEDURE


  1. INSTALL FRONT DISC

    1. Align the matchmarks on the front disc and the front axle hub and install the front disc.

      Note

      When replacing the front disc, select the position that gives the minimum disc runout.

  2. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER MOUNTING (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)


    1. Install the front disc brake cylinder mounting to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      107 N*m  { 1089 kgf*cm, 79 ft.*lbf }
  3. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)

      Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of 2 new front disc brake bush dust boots as shown in the illustration.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to each front disc brake bush dust boot.

    2. Install the 2 front disc brake bush dust boots to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  4. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE BUSH DUST BOOT (w/ Anti-rattle Spring)

      Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to 2 new front disc brake dust boots.

      Tech Tips

      Apply at least 0.3 g (0.01 oz.) of lithium soap base glycol grease to each front disc brake bush dust boot.

    2. Install the 2 front disc brake bush dust boots to the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  5. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER SLIDE PIN (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)

      *3 Front Disc Brake Cylinder Slide Bush
      A01UZL0 Lithium Soap Base Glycol Grease

      Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin as shown in the illustration.

    2. Install a new front disc brake cylinder slide bush to the front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin.

    3. Apply a light layer of lithium soap base glycol grease to the entire circumference of the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin, as shown in the illustration.

    4. Install the front disc brake cylinder slide pin and front No. 2 disc brake cylinder slide pin to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

  6. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/ Anti-rattle Spring)

      Apply lithium soap base glycol grease to the slide pins.

    2. Using 7 mm hexagon socket wrench, temporarily install the front disc brake cylinder assembly with the 2 slide pins.

  7. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD SUPPORT PLATE (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)

      *2 Front No. 2 Disc Brake Pad Support Plate

      Install the 4 front disc brake pad support plates to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      Be sure to install each front disc brake pad support plate in the correct position and direction.

  8. INSTALL FRONT ANTI SQUEAL SHIM KIT (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)

      A01UZL0 Disc Brake Grease

      Apply disc brake grease to both sides of each No. 1 anti squeal shim.

      Note


      • When replacing worn pads, the anti squeal shims must be replaced together with the front disc brake pad kit.

      • Install the shims in the correct positions and directions.

      • Apply disc brake grease to the area that contacts the anti squeal shims.

      • Disc brake grease can come out slightly from the area where the anti squeal shim is installed.

      • Make sure that disc brake grease is not applied to the lining surface.

      Install the 4 anti squeal shims to each front disc brake pad kit.

    3. Install the pad wear indicator plates to the upper side of the front disc brake pad kit.

  9. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)


    1. Install the front disc brake pad kit to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the front disc brake pad kit or the front disc.

  10. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE PAD KIT (w/ Anti-rattle Spring)

      Install the front disc brake pad kit to the front disc brake cylinder mounting.

      Note

      There should be no oil or grease on the friction surfaces of the front disc brake pad kit or the front disc.

  11. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE ANTI-RATTLE SPRING (w/ Anti-rattle Spring)

      Push end A of the spring into the groove of the front disc brake cylinder assembly and install spring sliding arm A' to the front disc brake cylinder mounting anchor.

      Push the spring in the direction of the arrow to flex it until end B can be insert into the groove of the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

      While pushing end B of the spring into the groove of the front disc brake cylinder assembly, flex spring sliding arm B' and install arm B' to the front disc brake cylinder mounting anchor.

      Make sure that the spring is securely installed.

  12. INSTALL DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/o Anti-rattle Spring)


    1. Hold the front disc brake cylinder slide pin with a wrench and install the front disc brake cylinder assembly to the front disc brake cylinder mounting with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      34 N*m  { 347 kgf*cm, 25 ft.*lbf }
  13. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (w/ Anti-rattle Spring)


    1. Install the front disc brake cylinder assembly to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

      Torque:
      107 N*m  { 1089 kgf*cm, 79 ft.*lbf }
    2. Using 7 mm hexagon socket wrench, fully tighten the 2 slide pins.

      Torque:
      28 N*m  { 280 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf }
    3. Install the 2 slide pin caps.

  14. INSTALL FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE

      *a Lock Hole

      Install the front flexible hose with a new union bolt and a new gasket.

      Torque:
      30 N*m  { 310 kgf*cm, 22 ft.*lbf }

      Tech Tips

      Install the flexible hose lock securely into the lock hole in the front disc brake cylinder assembly.

  15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE AUXILIARY BATTERY TERMINAL


    1. Connect the cable to the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal Click here.

    2. Perform the following procedure if air bleeding is not necessary:


      1. Connect the reservoir level switch connector.

      2. Clear the DTCs Click here

  16. BLEED BRAKE LINE

    Click here

  17. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

    Torque:
    103 N*m  { 1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf }
