REAR SPEED SENSOR REMOVAL

Note


  • When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads, pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

  • While the auxiliary battery is connected, even if the ignition switch is off, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch is turned on. Therefore, even if only brake pads are to be removed and installed, be sure to perform the Disable Brake Control procedure and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) terminal of the auxiliary battery before beginning work.

  • Use the same procedure for the LH side and RH side.

  • The following procedure listed is for the LH side.

PROCEDURE


  1. PRECAUTION

    Note

    After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) auxiliary battery terminal notice before proceeding with work Click here.

  2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL

  3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

  4. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY

  5. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE REAR DISC

  7. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE

    1. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw of the connector lock portion and disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector.

  8. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY

      Remove the 4 bolts, rear axle hub and bearing assembly and the rear disc brake dust cover sub-assembly from the axle beam assembly.

      Tech Tips

      The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
