HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID REPLACEMENT

PROCEDURE


  1. REPLACE HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID


    1. Be sure that the vehicle remains level and lift the vehicle. [*1]

    2. A004FFU

      Using a hexagon socket wrench 10 mm, remove the filler plug and gasket. [*2]

    3. A004FV4

      Using a hexagon socket wrench 10 mm, remove the drain plug and gasket to drain the hybrid transaxle fluid. [*3]

    4. Using a hexagon socket wrench 10 mm, temporarily install the drain plug and gasket. [*4]

      Tech Tips

      Because the drain plug will be removed again, the gasket can be reused at this time.

      *1 Filler Nozzle

      Add transaxle fluid until the fluid level is between 0 to 8 mm (0 to 0.315 in.) from the bottom lip of the filler plug opening. [*5]

      Note


      • Use Toyota Genuine ATF WS.

      • Be sure to fully insert the filler nozzle into the filler plug opening.

      • Be sure to add fluid slowly. If fluid is added quickly, the fluid may hit internal parts and bounce back, resulting in fluid coming out of the filler plug opening.

      • Be sure to directly check that the transaxle fluid level is within the specified range.

      • Insufficient or excessive amounts of transaxle fluid may damage the hybrid transaxle.

    6. Using a hexagon socket wrench 10 mm, temporarily install the filler plug and gasket. [*6]

      Tech Tips

      Because the filler plug will be removed again, the gasket can be reused at this time.

    7. Lower the vehicle. [*7]

    8. Connect the GTS to the DLC3 and turn the ignition switch to ON (IG). [*8]

    9. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here. [*9]

    10. Idle the engine for 30 seconds with the ignition switch ON (READY). [*10]

    11. Turn the ignition switch off. [*11]

    12. Repeat steps [*1] to [*11].

    13. Repeat steps [*1] to [*3].

    14. Using a hexagon socket wrench 10 mm, install the drain plug and a new gasket.

      Torque:
      50 N*m  { 510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf }
