LUBRICATION SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL


    1. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here.

    2. Warm up and stop the engine, then wait for 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the low and full level marks on the engine oil level dipstick. If the engine oil level is low, check for leaks and add oil up to the full level mark.

      Note

      Do not fill with engine oil to above the full level mark.

  2. CHECK ENGINE OIL


    1. Check the engine oil for deterioration, water contamination, discoloring or thinning. If the condition is visibly poor, replace the engine oil and oil filter element.

  3. INSPECT OIL PRESSURE


    1. Remove the oil pressure switch Click here.

      Install an oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    3. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here.

    4. Warm up the engine.

    5. Check the oil pressure.

      Standard Oil Pressure
      Engine Condition Oil Pressure
      Idle

      59 kPa (0.6 kgf/cm2, 4.2 psi) or more

      2500 rpm

      140 to 280 kPa (1.4 to 2.9 kgf/cm2, 20 to 41 psi)

      If the oil pressure is not as specified, check the oil pump Click here.

    6. Remove the oil pressure gauge with the adapter.

    7. Install the oil pressure switch Click here.

    8. Inspect for oil leak.
