EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

PROCEDURE


  1. VISUALLY INSPECT HOSES, CONNECTIONS AND GASKETS


    1. Inspect the hoses and gaskets for scratches, cracks or air/oil leaks from the connecting parts.

      Tech Tips

      If the hoses or gaskets are damaged or some of the connections are loose, they may cause an engine stall or malfunction.

  2. INSPECT EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM


    1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

    2. A004ECC

      Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose from the purge valve shown in the illustration.

    3. Put the engine in inspection mode Click here.

    4. Start the engine.

    5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Active Test / Activate the VSV for Evap Control.

    6. Check that vacuum occurs at the purge valve port.

    7. If vacuum does not occur, check the following items.

      Tech Tips


      • Purge VSV (for canister purge)

      • Clogging in the fuel vapor feed hose connecting the intake manifold and Purge VSV

      • Voltage from the ECM PRG terminal Click here

    8. Exit Active Test mode and reconnect the fuel vapor feed hose.

    9. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / EVAP Purge VSV.

    10. Warm up the engine and drive the vehicle.

    11. Confirm that the purge valve opens.

      If the result is not as specified, replace the purge valve, wire harness or ECM.
