| P0A80-123 | Replace Hybrid Battery Pack |
DESCRIPTION
The power management control ECU controls the SOC (state of charge) of the HV battery at a constant level during driving. The HV battery is composed of 20 modules, and each module consists of six 1.2 V cells in series. The battery smart unit monitors battery block voltage at 10 locations. Each battery block is composed of 2 modules in a set.

| DTC No. | INF Code | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
|---|---|---|---|
| P0A80 | 123 | Difference in voltage between battery blocks is larger than the standard (2 trip detection) |
|
Tech Tips
P0A80-123 will not be store unless the vehicle is driven for approximately 10 minutes after clearing the DTC.
CAUTION / NOTICE / HINT
CAUTION:
When disposing of an HV battery, make sure to return it through an authorized collection agent who is capable of handling it safely. If the HV battery is returned via the manufacturer specified route, it will be returned properly and in a safe manner by an authorized collection agent.

CHECK BATTERY SMART UNIT
Ensure the safety of the areas in front and at the back of the vehicle.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the ignition switch to ON (READY).
Fully warm up the engine and turn the air conditioning off.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Battery block Vol - V01 to V10.
Firmly depress the brake pedal with your left foot.
Move the select lever to D.
Record each battery block voltage from the data list (Battery block Vol -V01 to V10) while fully depressing the accelerator pedal.
Compare the battery block voltages (Battery block Vol -V01 to V10) between the even and odd number groups in each combination shown in the table below.
| Odd Number Group | Even Number Group | Battery Block Voltages to be Compared |
|---|---|---|
| Battery block Vol - V01 | Battery block Vol - V02 | V01 - V02 |
| Battery block Vol - V03 | Battery block Vol - V04 | V03 - V04 |
| Battery block Vol - V05 | Battery block Vol - V06 | V05 - V06 |
| Battery block Vol - V07 | Battery block Vol - V08 | V07 - V08 |
| Battery block Vol - V09 | Battery block Vol - V10 | V09 - V10 |
Check the difference between each pair of battery block voltages.
| Result | Proceed to |
|---|---|
| Difference in voltage of all 5 pairs of blocks is 0.3 V or more. | A |
| Other than above. | B |
Tech Tips
When an internal malfunction occurs in the battery smart unit, this symptom (difference in voltage of 0.3 V or more for all 5 pairs of blocks) will occur.
| *1 | Example: When difference in voltage of all 5 pairs of blocks is 0.3 V or more |
| *2 | When voltage of odd number battery blocks is 0.3 V or more higher than that of even number battery blocks. |
| *3 | 0.3 V or more |
| *4 | When voltage of odd number battery blocks is 0.3 V or more lower than that of even number battery blocks. |
Turn the ignition switch off.
