DESCRIPTION

The windshield wiper switch assembly controls the windshield washer motor and pump assembly.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE


  1. INSPECT WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY

    Tech Tips

    The following check should be performed with the windshield washer motor and pump assembly installed to the washer jar.


    1. Fill the washer jar with washer fluid.

      Component without harness connected

      (Windshield Washer Motor and Pump Assembly)

      Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the washer motor, and a battery negative (-) lead to terminal 2.

    3. Check that washer fluid flows from the washer jar.

      OK
      Washer fluid is pumped from the washer jar.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR AND PUMP ASSEMBLY - BATTERY)

      Disconnect the A40 windshield washer motor and pump assembly connector.

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      1. Disconnect the F42 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance
        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        A40-2 - F42-2 (WF) Always Below 1 Ω
        A40-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      1. Disconnect the F81 windshield wiper switch assembly connector.

      2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard Resistance

        A40-2 - F81-8 (WF) Always Below 1 Ω
        A40-2 - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
