INSTALL BACK DOOR UPPER DAMPER STAY BRACKET
Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.
Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 bolts.

Install the back door upper damper stay bracket with the 2 bolts.
INSTALL BACK DOOR LOWER STAY BRACKET
Clean the threaded portion on the vehicle body with a non-residue solvent.
Apply adhesive to the threads of the 2 bolts.

Install the back door lower damper stay bracket with the 2 bolts.
INSTALL BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY
Note
Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing.
Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the piston rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.
In order to prevent the piston rod from deforming, do not apply any horizontal load to the door stay.
When reusing the back door stay assembly:
Install the 2 stop rings to the back door stay assembly.
Install the back door stay assembly.
Note
Install the back door stay assembly while supporting the back door by hand.
Check that the back door stay assembly is engaged in the ball joint and that the back door stay assembly cannot be pulled out.
INSTALL BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION COVER
Tech Tips
When removing the back door stopper cushion cover, heat the vehicle body and back door stopper cushion cover using a heat light.

Note
Do not heat the vehicle body or rear door panel protector excessively.
Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.
Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.
Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
If reusing the back door stopper cushion cover.
Using a heat light, heat the back door stopper cushion cover.
Clean the back door stopper cushion cover.
Remove the double-sided tape from the back door stopper cushion cover.
Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.
Apply new double-sided tape to the back door stopper cushion cover as shown in the illustration.

Engage the 4 clips and install the back door stopper cushion cover.
INSTALL QUARTER PANEL PLUG
Engage the 2 claws to install the quarter panel plug.
INSTALL BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION
Install the back door stopper cushion with the screw.
