REMOVE BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION
Remove the screw and back door stopper cushion.
REMOVE QUARTER PANEL PLUG
Using a moulding remover, disengage the 2 claws and remove the quarter panel plug as shown in the illustration.
REMOVE BACK DOOR STOPPER CUSHION COVER
Tech Tips
When removing the back door stopper cushion cover, heat the vehicle body and back door stopper cushion cover using a heat light.

| Rear Door Panel Protector | 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F) |
Note
Do not heat the vehicle body or back door stopper cushion cover excessively.
Using a heat light, heat the back door stopper cushion cover.

Disengage the 4 clips and remove the back door stopper cushion cover.
REMOVE BACK DOOR STAY ASSEMBLY
Note
Avoid touching the piston rod as much as possible to prevent foreign matter from attaching to it. Be sure to hold the cylinder while servicing.
Do not wear cotton gloves or other similar materials when handling the piston rod. Fibers may attach to the rod and result in gas leaks.
In order to prevent the piston rod from deforming, do not apply any horizontal load to the door stay.

Using a screwdriver, remove the stop ring along the groove.
Tech Tips
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
Release the ball joint and remove the back door stay assembly.
Note
Remove the back door stay assembly while supporting the back door by hand.
REMOVE BACK DOOR LOWER STAY BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and back door lower stay bracket.
REMOVE BACK DOOR UPPER DAMPER STAY BRACKET
Remove the 2 bolts and back door upper damper stay bracket.
