POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

  1. POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM DESCRIPTION

    1. The power door lock system locks/unlocks all the doors.

The driver and front passenger side door control switches send lock/unlock request signals to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). Then, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) sends these request signals to the door lock motors in each door to lock/unlock all the doors at once in response to the inputs.

Operating the driver door lock using a mechanical key sends request signals to lock or unlock the doors to the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

  2. FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Function
Multiplex network master switch assembly Driver side door control switch on the master switch locks or unlocks all doors.
Door control switch (power window regulator switch assembly) Front passenger side door control switch on the power window regulator switch assembly locks or unlocks all doors.
    Door courtesy light switch assembly
    • Placed on each door.

    • Detects door status (open or closed) and outputs data to main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

    • Turns on when door is opened and turns off when door is closed.

Front door lock assembly (driver side)
    • Built-in motor locks or unlocks door.

    • Built-in door control switch (key-linked) detects door key operation status (locked or unlocked) and outputs a signal to main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).

    • Built-in position switch detects door status (locked or unlocked) and outputs a signal to main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). This switch turns off when door is locked and turns on when door is unlocked.

Front door lock assembly (front passenger side)

    Rear door lock assembly LH/RH

    • Built-in motor locks or unlocks door.

    • Built-in position switch detects door status (locked or unlocked) and outputs a signal to main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). This switch turns off when door is locked and turns on when door is unlocked.

    Back door lock assembly
    • Built-in motor opens door.*1

    • Built-in motor opens/closes door.*2

    • Performs back door open operation according to door position determination of main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU).*1

    • Performs back door open/close operation according to door position as determined by power back door ECU (back door motor unit).*2

  3. SYSTEM FUNCTION

    1. This system is controlled by the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU). The main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) outputs signals to each door lock motor. The door lock control system of the vehicle has the following functions:

      Function Outline
Manual lock and unlock function This function can lock or unlock all doors by the door lock control switch operation.
Key-linked lock and unlock function This function, which is linked with the mechanical key cylinder, can lock or unlock all doors when a lock or unlock operation is effected.
      Manual unlock prohibition function

When the condition below is met, unlocking the vehicle using the door lock control switch will be prohibited.

      • The doors are locked using a mechanical key, door control transmitter or entry lock operation with all doors closed.

Key lock-in prevention function When the key is in the vehicle, performing the door lock operation with the lock switch on the outer handle will not lock the door.
Collision door lock release If the SRS has been deployed and the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) has detected the signal that is output from the airbag sensor, the main body ECU (multiplex network body ECU) will unlock all doors.
Key-linked 2-step unlock function*3 Unlocks only the driver door by turning the key cylinder once and unlocks the other doors by turning it twice.
      Shift-linked automatic door lock function*4

When the conditions listed below are met consecutively, this function causes all doors to be automatically locked.

      • All doors are closed.

      • The hybrid control system is started.

      • The shift lever is moved out of P.

      Shift-linked automatic door unlock function*4

When the conditions listed below are met consecutively, this function causes all doors to be automatically unlocked.

      • The power switch on (IG).

      • The shift lever is moved to P from any position other than P.

      Speed-sensitive automatic door lock function

When the conditions listed below are met consecutively, this function causes all doors to be automatically locked.

      • Vehicle speed is higher than approximately 20 km/h (12 mph).

      • All doors are closed.

      • Any of the doors is unlocked.

Driver door-linked automatic door unlock*4 All doors are unlocked automatically when the driver door is opened within 10 seconds after the power switch is turned from on (IG) to off.
      Double locking function
      • The double locking function also prevents the doors from being opened through the operation of the inside door knobs. Thus, the doors cannot be opened either from the inside or the outside the vehicle.

      • To lock the doors with this function, pressing the transmitter lock switch twice within 5 seconds or touching lock sensor on the outside door handle twice with holding the key within 5 seconds activates the double locking function. However, as an emergency unlocking maneuver, only the driver door can be unlocked with a key.

      Note

Never activate the double locking function when there are people in the vehicle because the doors cannot be opened from the inside. If the doors are locked by accident, unlock the door by using the wireless unlock operation or entry unlock operation.
