WINDSHIELD GLASS INSTALLATION

INSTALL NO. 2 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER
1. Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of the No. 2 windshield glass stoppers with Primer G.
  Note
  - Do not apply too much primer.
  - Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
  - Throw away any leftover primer.
  Tech Tips
  
  If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.
2. Install 2 new No. 2 windshield glass stoppers onto the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.
  
  Note
  
  Only the 2-piece type No. 1 windshield glass stoppers are supplied. Use the 2-piece type stoppers even if the 1-piece type stoppers were used.
INSTALL NO. 1 WINDSHIELD GLASS STOPPER
1. Install 2 new No. 1 windshield glass stoppers to the vehicle body, as shown in the illustration.
  
  Note
  
  Only the 2-piece type No. 1 windshield glass stoppers are supplied. Use the 2-piece type stoppers even if the 1-piece type stoppers were used.
INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS RETAINER
1. Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of the windshield glass retainers with Primer G.
  Note
  - Do not apply too much primer.
  - Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
  - Throw away any leftover primer.
  Tech Tips
  
  If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

  Install 2 new windshield glass retainers onto the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL OUTSIDE WINDSHIELD MOULDING
1. Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of the outside windshield moulding with Primer G.
  Note
  - Do not apply too much primer.
  - Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
  - Throw away any leftover primer.
  Tech Tips
  
  If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.
2. Install a new outside windshield moulding onto the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.
INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS SEAL
1. Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of the windshield glass seal with Primer G.
  Note
  - Do not apply too much primer.
  - Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
  - Throw away any leftover primer.
  Tech Tips
  
  If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.
2. Install a new windshield glass seal onto the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.

INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS

Position the windshield glass.
1. Using suction cups, place the windshield glass in the correct position.
2. Check that the whole contact surface of the windshield glass rim is perfectly even.
3. Align the matchmarks on the windshield glass and vehicle body.
  
  Note
  
  Check that the windshield glass stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.
4. Remove the windshield glass.
Using a brush, coat the installation surface on the vehicle body with Primer M.
Note
- Do not coat the adhesive with Primer M.
- Do not apply too much primer.
- Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Throw away any leftover primer.
Tech Tips

If an area other than that specified is coated by accident, wipe off the primer with a clean piece of cloth before it dries.

Using a brush or a sponge, coat the application area of adhesive with Primer G.

Apply adhesive to the glass.

Adhesive
Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent

Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

Tech Tips

After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time described in the table below.

Load the sealer gun with cartridge.

Apply adhesive to the windshield glass, as shown in the illustration.

Apply adhesive onto the ceramic notches.

Install the windshield glass assembly.

Using suction cups, position the windshield glass so that the matchmarks are aligned, and press it in gently along the rim.
Note
- Check that the windshield glass stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.
- Check the clearance between the vehicle body and windshield glass.
Lightly press the front surface of the windshield glass to ensure that the windshield glass is securely fit to the vehicle body.

Tech Tips

Press the glass with a force of 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) or more.

Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.

Tech Tips

Apply adhesive onto the windshield glass rim.

Hold the windshield glass using protective tape until applied adhesive becomes hard.

Note

Do not drive the vehicle for the time described in the table below.

1. Engage the connector.

INSPECT FOR LEAK AND REPAIR
1. After the adhesive has hardened, apply water from the outside of the vehicle. Check that no water leaks into the cabin.
2. If water leaks into the cabin, allow the water to dry and add adhesive.
3. Remove the protective tape.
INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY
1. Return the front section of the roof headlining assembly to the original position.
INSTALL VISOR HOLDER (for LH Side)
1. Engage the 2 claws.
2. Push in the visor holder as shown in the illustration.

1. Install the visor assembly LH with the 2 screws.

INSTALL MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY
1. Connect each connector.
2. Engage the 2 guides and 2 clips.
3. Install the map light assembly with the 2 screws.
4. Engage the 2 claws and connect the 2 caps.
5. w/ Holder:
  1. Close the holder.
6. w/o Holder:
  1. Engage the 2 claws to connect the cover.

INSTALL FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH

Install a new clip <A> on the front pillar garnish LH.

INSTALL INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear View Monitor System)
1. Using "TORX" socket wrench (T20), install the inner rear view mirror with the screw.
  
  Torque:
  
  1.8 N*m { 18 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf }
2. Connect the connector.
INSTALL INNER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear View Monitor System)
1. Using "TORX" socket wrench (T20), install the inner rear view mirror with the screw.
  
  Torque:
  
  1.8 N*m { 18 kgf*cm, 15 in.*lbf }
2. Connect the connector.

1. Engage the 6 claws and install the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover.
2. Engage the 2 claws and install the inner rear view mirror stay holder cover as shown in the illustration.

CLEAN WINDSHIELD GLASS
Note
- The rain sensor tape can be reused, however, replace it with a new one if it has dirt on it or it is damaged.
- Check that the rain sensor tape does not remain on the windshield glass. If it does, remove it before installing the rain sensor.

INSTALL RAIN SENSOR TAPE

Tech Tips

Rain sensor tape is reusable. Only replace the tape if it is damaged or contaminated.

Clean the rain sensor sensing portion with a piece of cloth, etc.

Peel off the smaller release sheet, and then attach the rain sensor tape on the rain sensor sensing portion as shown in the illustration.

Note

Use your fingers to push out any air bubbles from under the tape.

INSTALL RAIN SENSOR
1. Clean the windshield glass with a piece of cloth, etc.
  Note
  - Make sure that there is no rain sensor tape residue remaining on the windshield glass. If there is, remove the residue.
  - If there is any rain sensor tape residue remaining on the windshield glass, replace the tape.
2. When installing a new rain sensor or replacing the rain sensor tape:
  1. Peel off the release sheet.

    Do not touch the silicon coated surfaces.

  Engage the 2 guides, and carefully install the rain sensor to the glass surface, preventing air bubbles from forming between the contact surfaces.

4. Push in the stopper.
5. Connect the connector.
INSTALL RAIN SENSOR COVER
1. Engage the 2 claws to install the rain sensor cover.
INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Engage the 10 guides.
2. Engage the 6 claws and guide <A> as shown in the illustration.
3. Install the 2 clips to cowl top ventilator louver sub-assembly.

INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH

Operate the wiper and stop the windshield wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

When reusing the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH:

When reusing the windshield wiper link assembly:
1. Clean the wiper pivot serrations with a wire brush.

Install the front wiper arm and blade assembly RH with the 2 nuts to the position shown in the illustration.

Torque:

24 N*m { 245 kgf*cm, 18 ft.*lbf }

Tech Tips

While holding the tip of the wiper blade on the glass at approximately 20 mm above the ceramic dot, press down on the wiper arm and tighten the nut. Then raise and lower the wiper arm a few times to confirm that it has settled to the specified position.

Tech Tips

Hold the wiper arm by hand while tightening the nut.
Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.

1. Engage the 3 claws to install the front wiper arm head cap.
