STEERING KNUCKLE INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL STEERING KNUCKLE


    1. A01NEEHE03

      Using SST and a press, install a new front axle hub bearing to the steering knuckle.

      SST

  2. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER


    1. A01NI0X

      Install the front disc brake dust cover to the steering knuckle with the 4 bolts.

      Torque:
      8.3 N*m  { 85 kgf*cm, 73 in.*lbf }

  3. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY


    1. A01NGXFE03

      Using SST and a press, install the front axle hub sub-assembly to the steering knuckle.

  4. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING


    1. A01NHYL

      Using snap ring pliers, install a new front axle hub hole snap ring.

  5. INSTALL FRONT NO. 1 WHEEL BEARING DUST DEFLECTOR


    1. A01ND36E01

      Using SST and a hammer, install a new front No. 1 wheel bearing dust deflector.

      Tech Tips

      Align the cutout for the speed sensor in the front No. 1 wheel bearing dust deflector with the hole of the steering knuckle.

  6. INSTALL FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT ASSEMBLY


    1. Install the front lower ball joint to the steering knuckle with the nut (Type A or Type B).

      Torque:
      123 N*m  { 1254 kgf*cm, 91 ft.*lbf }

      Note

      Prevent oil from adhering to the screw and tapered parts.

    2. When installing the nut (Type A):


      1. A01NCLU

        Install a new clip to the nut as shown in the illustration.

        Note


        • If the holes for the clip are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60°.

        • Insert the clip forward of the vehicle.

    3. When installing the nut (Type B):


      1. A01NF7Q

        Install a new cotter pin to the nut as shown in the illustration.

        Note

        If the holes for the cotter pin are not aligned, tighten the nut further up to 60°.
