ENGINE UNIT REMOVAL


  1. INSTALL ENGINE ON ENGINE STAND


    1. Install the engine onto an engine stand with the bolts.

  2. REMOVE ENGINE HANGERS

      Remove the 4 bolts and 2 engine hangers.

  3. REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the throttle body assembly connector and wire harness clamp.

    2. A01NF4U

      Disconnect the fuel vapor feed hose.

    3. A01NG7C

      Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses.

    4. A01NHMY

      Disconnect the 5 clamps and separate the main wire.

    5. A01NGGD

      Disconnect the ventilation hose.

    6. A01NCZR

      Disconnect the connector from the manifold absolute pressure sensor.

    7. A01NHZZ

      Remove the bolt and separate the No. 1 surge tank stay from the intake air surge tank assembly.

    8. Remove the bolt and separate the throttle body bracket from the intake air surge tank assembly.

      Remove the 2 nuts from the intake air surge tank assembly.

    10. Using a 5 mm socket hexagon wrench, remove the 4 bolts.

      Remove the intake air surge tank assembly and 3 air surge tank to intake manifold gaskets.

  4. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY BRACKET

      Remove the bolt and throttle body bracket.

  5. REMOVE NO. 2 EGR PIPE (w/ EGR System)

      Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts, No. 2 EGR pipe and 2 gaskets.

  6. REMOVE EGR COOLER ASSEMBLY (w/ EGR System)

        Disconnect the 2 water hoses.

      2. Remove the 4 nuts, EGR cooler assembly and gasket.

  7. REMOVE NO. 1 EGR PIPE (w/ EGR System)

      Remove the bolt, 4 nuts, No. 1 EGR pipe and 2 gaskets.

  8. REMOVE NO. 1 EGR COOLER BRACKET (w/ EGR System)

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 1 EGR cooler bracket.

  9. REMOVE EGR DELIVERY CHAMBER

      Disconnect the 2 water hoses and connector (w/ EGR System).

      Remove the EGR delivery chamber.

    3. A01NGB1

      Remove the No. 2 intake manifold gasket.

  10. REMOVE NO. 1 SURGE TANK STAY

      Remove the bolt and No. 1 surge tank stay.

  11. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY

      Disconnect the 6 ignition coil connectors.

    2. Remove the 6 bolts and 6 ignition coils.

  12. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE MOUNTING STAY RH


    1. A01NFDW

      Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine mounting stay RH.

  13. REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD


    1. A01NG3U

      Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 bolts and 4 nuts.

    2. Remove the intake manifold and 2 gaskets.

  14. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH


    1. A01NDFK

      Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold sub-assembly RH and gasket.

  15. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE


    1. Remove the engine oil level dipstick.

    2. A01NDZG

      Remove the bolt and No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.

    3. A01NEKR

      Remove the O-ring from the No. 2 engine oil level dipstick guide.

  16. REMOVE NO. 2 MANIFOLD STAY


    1. A01NERI

      Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 manifold stay.

  17. REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR


    1. A01NHIN

      Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector (for Bank 2 Sensor 1).

    2. Disconnect the sensor wire from the radiator pipe clamp.

    3. A01NDHM

      Remove the 3 bolts and No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.

  18. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH


    1. A01NGUO

      Uniformly loosen and remove the 6 nuts.

    2. Remove the exhaust manifold sub-assembly LH and gasket.

  19. REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT TENSIONER ASSEMBLY


    1. A01ND6I

      Remove the 5 bolts and V-ribbed belt tensioner assembly.

  20. REMOVE NO. 2 TIMING GEAR COVER


    1. A01NEQS

      Remove the 2 bolts and No. 2 timing gear cover.

  21. REMOVE WATER PUMP PULLEY


    1. A01NHRXE01

      Using SST, hold the water pump pulley.

    2. Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.

  22. REMOVE RADIO SETTING CONDENSER

      Remove the 2 bolts and 2 radio setting condensers.

  23. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE


    1. A01NGI5

      Remove the bolt and No. 1 vacuum switching valve.

  24. REMOVE ENGINE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH ASSEMBLY


    1. A01NHVV

      Using a 24 mm deep socket wrench, remove the engine oil pressure switch assembly.

  25. REMOVE SENSOR WIRE


    1. A01NG9S

      Disconnect the 2 knock control sensor connectors and knock control sensor wire connector.

    2. Disconnect the 2 clamps and remove the knock control sensor wire from the engine assembly.

  26. REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR


    1. A01NHJP

      Disconnect the 2 knock control sensor connectors.

    2. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 knock control sensors.

  27. REMOVE ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR

      Disconnect the engine coolant temperature sensor connector.

    2. Remove the engine coolant temperature sensor and gasket.

  28. REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL SENSOR

      Remove the 4 bolts and engine oil level sensor.
