INSPECT OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
Apply engine oil to the oil pump relief valve. Check that the valve falls smoothly into the valve hole of the oil pump body by its own weight.
INSPECT OIL PUMP DRIVE AND DRIVEN ROTORS
| *1 | Feeler Gauge |
Check the tip clearance.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the tips of the drive rotor and driven rotor.
Standard tip clearance
---
0.08 to 0.16 mm (0.0031 to 0.0063 in.)
Maximum tip clearance
---
0.21 mm (0.0083 in.)
If the tip clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
| *1 | Feeler Gauge |
Check the body clearance.
Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the driven rotor and oil pump body.
Standard body clearance
---
0.10 to 0.18 mm (0.0039 to 0.0071 in.)
Maximum body clearance
---
0.20 mm (0.0079 in.)
If the body clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
| *1 | Feeler Gauge |
| *2 | Steel Square |
Check the side clearance.
Using a feeler gauge and steel square , measure the clearance between the rotors and steel square.
Standard side clearance
---
0.03 to 0.09 mm (0.0012 to 0.0035 in.)
Maximum side clearance
---
0.15 mm (0.0059 in.)
If the side clearance is greater than the maximum, replace the oil pump.
