SEAT BELT WARNING SYSTEM Rear Seat Belt Warning Light Malfunction

DESCRIPTION

The combination meter assembly detects the rear seat inner belt assembly condition when the ignition switch is ON. The combination meter assembly turns on the rear seat belt warning light when the tongue plate is not inserted in the buckle, and the combination meter assembly turns off the rear seat belt warning light when the tongue plate is inserted in the buckle.

Note

Inspect the fuses for circuit related to this system before performing the following inspection procedure.

PROCEDURE


  1. CHECK REAR SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT FUNCTION


    1. Check the condition of the rear seat belt warning lights Click here.

  2. READ VALUE USING INTELLIGENT TESTER


    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    3. Turn the tester on.

    4. Enter the following menus: Body / Combination Meter / Data List.

    5. According to the display on the tester, read the Data List.

    1. Disconnect the D1 combination meter assembly connector.

    2. Disconnect the D65 telltale light assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D1-9 (RLBT) - D65-9 (RLON) Always Below 1 Ω
      D1-9 (RLBT) or D65-9 (RLON) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    5. Reconnect the telltale light assembly connector.

  4. INSPECT TELLTALE LIGHT ASSEMBLY

      Remove the telltale light assembly.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the terminals and check that the front passenger seat belt warning light illuminates.

    3. Reinstall the telltale light assembly.

    1. Disconnect the G10 rear seat inner belt assembly RH connector.

    2. Disconnect the D1 combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance
      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G10-4 (+) - D1-6 (RLSB) Always Below 1 Ω
      G10-4 (+) or D1-6 (RLSB) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G10-3 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
    4. Reconnect the rear seat inner belt assembly RH connector.

    5. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    5. Reconnect the combination meter assembly connector.
