FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION

Tech Tips


  • Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

  • The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


  1. INSTALL FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

    CAUTION:


    • The nuts must not be reused.

    • Make sure that the separate type front seatback spring assembly is not deformed. If it is, replace it with a new one.


    1. Install the front seat side airbag assembly with 2 new nuts.

      Torque:
      5.5 N*m  { 56 kgf*cm, 49 in.*lbf }

    2. Engage the clamp.

  2. INSTALL SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Cover Integrated Type)


    1. A011BSO

      Install the seatback cover with pad.

    2. Install the front seatback cover bracket with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • For vehicles with side airbags, the side airbags may not be activated normally unless the front seatback cover is securely installed.

      • Check that the strap is not twisted after installing the bracket.

      • Install the bracket securely.

      Fasten the 2 zippers.

      *1 New Hog Ring
      *2 Hog Ring Pliers

      Using hog ring pliers, install the 3 new hog rings.

      Note


      • Do not soil or scratch the front seatback cover.

      • When installing hog rings, minimize wrinkles as much as possible.

  3. INSTALL SEPARATE TYPE FRONT SEATBACK COVER WITH PAD (for Cover Separate Type)


    1. A0118AP

      Install the separate type front seatback cover with pad.

    2. Install the seatback bracket with the nut.

      Torque:
      5.0 N*m  { 51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf }

      Note


      • The front seat side airbag assemblies may not be activated normally unless the separate type front seatback cover with pad is securely installed.

      • Check that the strap is not twisted after installing the seatback bracket.

      • Install the seatback bracket securely.

      Fasten the 2 zippers.

      Using hog ring pliers, install the 3 new hog rings.

  4. CONNECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY WIRE HARNESS (w/o Vertical Adjuster)


    1. w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Connect the connector and engage the clamp.

      2. Engage the fastener to connect the seat heater wire harness.

    2. Engage the fastener to connect the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness.

    3. Install the front seat side airbag assembly connector.

    4. Engage the 2 wire harness clamps.

    5. Install the front seatback cover band.

  5. CONNECT FRONT SEAT SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY WIRE HARNESS (w/ Vertical Adjuster)


    1. w/ Seat Heater System:


      1. Connect the connector and engage the clamp.

      2. Engage the fastener to connect the seat heater wire harness.

    2. Engage the fastener to connect the front seat side airbag assembly wire harness.

    3. Install the front seat side airbag assembly connector.

    4. Engage the 3 wire harness clamps.

    5. Install the 2 front seatback cover bands.

  6. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY LH

    Note

    Follow the procedure described below in order to prevent the seat tracks from locking separately.


    1. Insert the 2 location pins through the 2 body holes, place the front seat in the most forward position and make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks are locked securely.

    2. Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, install bolt 1 and then bolt 2 onto the rear side.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

    3. Move the front seat to the most rearward position, and then make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks are securely locked.

    4. Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, install bolt 3 and then bolt 4 onto the rear side.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

    5. Make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks lock simultaneously after the seat is moved.

      Tech Tips

      If the inner and outer seat tracks do not lock simultaneously, loosen the bolts and adjust the seat tracks.

      Connect the airbag connector.

    7. Connect the buckle switch connector.

    8. Install the wiring harness clamps.

  7. INSTALL FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY RH

    Note

    Follow the procedure described below in order to prevent the seat tracks from locking separately.


    1. Insert the 2 location pins through the 2 body holes, place the front seat in the most forward position and make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks are locked securely.

    2. Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, install bolt 1 and then bolt 2 onto the rear side.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

    3. Move the front seat to the most rearward position, and then make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks are securely locked.

    4. Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, install bolt 3 and then bolt 4 onto the rear side.

      Torque:
      37 N*m  { 377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf }

    5. Make sure that the inner and outer seat tracks lock simultaneously after the seat is moved.

      Tech Tips

      If the inner and outer seat tracks do not lock simultaneously, loosen the bolts and adjust the seat tracks.

      for LHD front passenger seat:


      1. Connect the front seat side airbag connector.

      2. Connect the front seat cushion airbag connector.

      3. Connect the buckle switch connector.

      4. Connect the front seat wire connector.

      5. Install the wiring harness clamp.

      for RHD front passenger seat:


      1. Connect the front seat side airbag connector.

      2. Connect the front seat cushion airbag connector.

      3. Connect the buckle switch connector.

      4. Connect the front seat wire connector.

      5. Install the wiring harness clamp.

  8. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

    Torque:
    5.4 N*m  { 55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf }

  9. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
